Well, I always put my seatbelt when I am driving around, I believe that it can save your life even in the worst accident. As you see on TV more and more people die of car accidents every day, just because they don't put their seatbelt on.
Even when enforced by the law, seatbelts are still left forgoten. In my opinion the fines should be greater, so that it can get to people's minds. What do you think?

I'm not even sure why something that's been proven to save lives can still be up for discussion - you should always wear a seatbelt. My father taught me as a little girl that I should automatically always reach for my seatbelt and I still do so today. It's impossible for me to forget my seatbelt, I simply wouldn't feel right.

My boyfriend won't wear his because he says he's an adult and should be able to make decisions like that on his own without being forced. I personally think that's a pig headed - idiotic response. There's specific reasons, studies, cases and whatever else that prompted the enforcement of this law so people who have this kind of mocho, "I'm not going to let people tell me what to do," attitude won't get killed. The fines are pretty high here if the driver is ticketed for not wearing a seatbelt, as well as passanger tickets. I rarely see it enforced, though, and tend to agree if these laws were stricted (enforced more often with higher fines), people would be smarter about the decision to wear or not to wear one.

He wouldn't get very far if he was riding in the car with me. It's a requirement, and the car won't ever start if the belts aren't on. :)
You can be the best driver in the world, but that doesn't mean the guy in front of you is. All it takes in a split second for a fatal accident to happen.

That's EXACTLY how I feel!! I'm constantly saying, "it's not your driving I'm worried about." We're coming across new drivers, nervous drivers, drivers that are too old and drivers that are under the influence ALL the time. But, alas, he has "I'm a mocho man" super powers that he believe will protect him from all harm. Can you tell this topic heats me up a bit?? :)

I am so used to wearing my seat belt that it's a habit already. I do feel safer having it on. It has been proven that it does save lives. I wish everyone would use them.

I'm guilty of forgetting about seatbelts. When I was in high school I did put on my seatbelt every day. But when I started college I started forgetting to. I don't know why. I really really want to make it a habit. I'll start tomorrow!

Those who made cars definitely have their reasons for the seat belt.Sometimes called safety belt, it is designed to protect the occupant of the car or other vechiles against harmful movements of collision or sudden stop. They are intended to reduces injuries by stopping the wearer from hitting hard on interior parts of the car.About 40,000 people die in car accidents and a safety belt can prevent about half of these accidents. Some think it is very uncomfotable or because they are going nearby, they dont need it.It is very wrong.Failure to wear a seat belt contributes to more fatalities.IT SAVES LIFE.

ALthough there has been a law for a long time in the uk about people wearing seatbelts if they were not in the back of the car already it was not necesary. A new law has recently been passed over here to ensure all children and babies are in the appropriate car seats, booster seats ect for their age groups as well as everyone having to buckle up. I think it is great that people are being fined for their lack of responsibility not only for their own lives but for those of children too. It used to really bug me when I was behind a car full of cjildren screaming and jumping about all over the seats of teh car infront. People in the uk ow are also being made aware of the importance of your child being in teh right type of safety seat for their age as so many were in seats that caused more harm than good in a crash. I think we should all buckle up adn drive safely, there are some pretty horrific adds on tv at the moment about people in the back seats not wearing belts and although the people in the front are the impact of the crash makes the people in the back fly forward and it is those in the front that are killed instantly from the impact, makes you think that when you wear a belt not only are you looking out for your own safety but for the other passengers travelling with you. I am all for it as you can tell.

I believe that people who die, get severe injuries or even get fined for not wearing a seatbelt deserve their fate.
First of all, it's the law... And you must be really stupid not to see the benefits in wearing the seatbelt. But I guess stupidity is a common fact among human creatures...

seat belts should be weared ...i knew many people think they are tied around and they like it withott seat belt but ...the main purpose of a seat belt is to protect you from accedents so one must have to look after his or her self and try to where it what ever might be the reason for it !!

I believe its important. I believe it can save your life. But be careful because mine usually gets tighter around the neck which could be really bad. So I try to keep it from my neck when I drive because if we stop hard it really hurts and could choke me even. EW

yeah, people seem to forget that seat belts save lives, even on the shortest trips and at the lowest speeds. wearing a seatbelt also increases your chances of surviving an accident, right? yeah raising the fines and enforcing it might be one way to remind ppl to not forget to wear their seatbelt.

Sadly I know what can happen when you dont wear your belt..I also unfortunately know what can happen when you dont wear your lid (helmet) or wear it but dont have it done up.....I ALWAYS make sure the kids buckle up and I do as well a good 90% of the time, there are times though I'll totally forget for whatever reason...

People in our country do not always wear seatbelts, they don't understand the importance of wearing one and sadly most of them do not respect traffic law enforcers. I always put my seatbelt on, not mainly because of the law but for my own safety as well.

Well, I'm mainly in the passenger seat, and I'm all for seat belts. I guess most people think it's not so "cool" to wear them. Well, it won't be cool if you crashed and went through the windshield and had glass in your face. I would rather wear the seatbelt. I don't understand why people won't take such a simple and easy precaution, which literally takes no time at all, just for their own safety. Better safe than sorry, right?? But people still don't do it. I guess if they increase the fines, it would work. Apparently these days, most people care more about their money than their lives, or safety.

faith is faith it will come. eventhough we have to take necessary precuation to avaoid that. there is a proverb like if some think happend seriouly if know that its power will be less. seat belt is necessary when we drive the car its give extra protection to our body. We dont we play with the life . there is no need for that
