why do we blink when we find ourself passing under a low heighted tree or any narrow bridge while we are already in a car and we know very well that nothing is going to harm us,
so simply i mean to ask is that mearly a fear with in us or is there any scientific theory behind it..... well just try it out , you will feel the same.

Blinking is a natural phenomenon, people blink not due to fear but to prevent their eye corna, pupil from outside harmful agents like dust, water, unhygenic particles. And it is reflex action one can't stop that happening. Also, we blink to let our eyeballs covered by thin layer of unseen secretive gel, that covers our eyes and improves its ability to perform better.

Well i think its a natural phenomenon. Its not with you only its with every person born on earth.. Its god developed or we can say its a habbit right from birth..So i want to say that there is no science behind it. Its for the care of our eyes only...

Blinking is a way to keep the eyes clean and moist.
I think wat u r sayin is a common human instinct.
Blinking can also serve as a proactive way of keeping things from entering in the first place,by lowering the eyelids and lashes for protection--this is why people blink when something startles them or moves quickly towards their faces
