Does it meant that I am getting old?

I can remember as a teen not appreciating whatever it was that kept my grandfather glued to his back porch watching his bird houses and feeders. Now, I so enjoy watching the two birdfeeders that we have put up right outside our den windows! Today I have seen cardinals, bluejays, bluebirds, some cute bird that was grey with a red head and many more! I also enjoy watching the bluebirds going in and out of the nesting box that my neighbor has. Does this means I am getting old?!

Many years ago I thought there were three signs that I was getting older....if I put geraniums on the front steps, if I wore more comfortable clothes like sweats and if I stopped wearing bikini underwear....I do all three now and don't think I am getting old. The one thing about aging is that though your body grows old, you still feel young inside. Maybe now we just appreciate the more simple things and are more aware of their beauty.

ROFL!!! Well Jill, I do 2 of those 3 as well as the birdwatching! I have the geraniums in a bed by the porch and I love sweats! You are probably right about the simple things. It's like one has to slow down and really look at them to appreciate their beauty. Younger folks are far to busy to slow down I presume!

I do think as you get older you start enjoying the simpler things in life. Maybe we realize it is time to stop and smell the roses. I'm so glad others are also putting comfort ahead of how it looks. I love my sweats and now that the weather is getting warmer I love to wear those lounge/pajama pants all day. I haven't yet got the nerve to wear them out to run errands yet. I do wear my sweats to run errands in the winter though.

Not at all. It means that you have rediscoved nature and are having a good time enjoying it. This is not an activity for any specific age, but can be fun for all, if they choose to be observant. There are lots of natural goings-on if one takes time to notice. These seemingly not important activties are what brings joy to everyday living. The simple things matter.

Naw, you're not getting old, you're just appreciating the beauty of nature more! When we're teenagers and kids, we are so busy and living life at warp speed that we usually don't take the time to notice how beautiful and intricate nature & all of it's wonderful birds are. Now we are old enough to see them for the miraculous creatures that they are. Old? No...deeper thinking...yes!

No you're not getting old. You are just appreciating quiet time more. Even as a child I enjoyed watching for birds or listening to them. The one bird call I miss the most is the sound of the whip-or-will. Since they live only in heavily wooded areas that will give you an idea of the type of place I grew up in. That is another reason I love to go camping is to wake up to the sounds of birds when they start singing at first light. It is so peacful and quiet then that you just want to have time stand still for just a moment longer before the hustle and bustle of the day gets going.

LOL, I think you may be getting on the old side of life as my mum for the last few years has also got into bird watching, She bought a bird bath and often tells me who has visited it and what they got up to!! I do think though that as we get older we begin to appreciate the more finer things in life and enjoy nature alot more. When we are young we are too busy getting from one place to another to have time to chill out and look at what is around us!!

I too have adopted some of the things my dad and grandfather did namely.....going bald and the only places where my hair grows now is in the nose and ears...those have to be weedwhacked regularly. Also, I've noticed that the waistband of my pants is getting higher each and every year...the belt marks on my skin (from the waist to the chest) are like the rings of a tree, each one markking three years of my adult life.

HAHAHA!!! Just last night the kids and I were kidding my husband about having his pants pulled up to his chin! I can't wait until my children come home from school to tell them about your wonderful comparison of the belt lines to rings on a tree! They will get a big kick out of that! I also stay busy keeping the hair trimmed from hubby's nose and ears.

HUM???? Wonder if age has anything to do with that??? LOL I think you must be like me. I am reaching that "comfortable" age. Meaning that I enjoy the things that make me feel the most comfortable like nature and yes, the birds. LOL You are the only one that can decide if it is relate to "age" or not. LOL

I like to watch the birds too when I get a chance. I don't know that it is a sign of getting old or not. Squirrels can be a lot of fun, especially if you catch while they are trying to steal out of the bird feeders. They can be very inventive and entertaining when they are looking for a free meal.

I think as we all get older we all start to appreciate things more and this is what you are doing. It doesn't mean your getting old, it's just that we appreciate the good things that are going on around us.

No. These are thing youhave grown to enjoy, grown to appreciate.. watching life of another species. Is quite gratifying... watching them grow together in their everyday existance can be quite exciting. It's like watching your own children/youth grow before your eyes.

No not at all! As we get older, time flies by and we learn to appreciate it more. Taking some time out to relax and reflect doesn't mean you are getting old, it just means you are becoming wiser and realizing that time is precious. I wish everyone would sit back and smell the roses at least once a day. Reflection is a beautiful thing. Blessings

This is not a sign of age, Its a sign of growing to appreciate all life has to offer. It means you are growing ito life and starting to realize that time is precious. Stop and smell the flowers and such. I used to think tat it was a total waste of time to grow my own herbs and veggies at home. Now I enjoy it so much, Its like creating life. And when you reap what you sow it teaches you that life contains many spectacular things you never even gave a chance before. I hope everyone can see these treasures in their life! and bird watching is another miricle we just let slip away daily while life is hectic and crazy. Enjoy your life and your birds! Older no just wiser!
