Do certain songs make you cry?

I have a few of these. I thought about it because I've heard all 3 in the last 24 hours. They are "Freebird" by Lynnard Skynnard, "Wild Horses" the Sundays and Rolling Stones versions both have that effect and "This Year's Love" by David Gray. There are a few others that get me teary but those almost always make me emotional. Even the first time I heard This Year's Love in the movie "The Girl Next Door" it did it heh. So, what songs make you all get misty eyed? If none have that effect which ones just really touch your heart?

Hmmm, there are a few. I remember a song that played on my wedding day which moved me to tears. It's not internationally known but is popular back in my country. The title is "How Did You Know" and the lyrics go like this...
INTRO
I remember so well
The day that you came into my life
You asked for my name
You had the most beautiful smile
My life started to change
I'd wake up each day feeling alright
With you right by my side
Makes me feel things will work out just fine
CHORUS
How did you know
I needed someone like you in my life
That there's an empty space in my heart
You came at the right time in my life
I'll never forget
How you brought the sun to shine in my life
And took all the worries and fears that I had
I guess what I'm really trying to say
It's not everyday that someone like you comes my way
No words can express how much I love you
Repeat Chorus
It was so fitting for the moment that I could not help but cry :)

One used to nearly make me cry for a while (Do - heaven), since it recalled me a lot of the time with an ex of mine, but as time passed that feeling passed away pretty much as well and so does the feeling of sadness I had when listening to it.

I can see how heaven would make you a little emotional if you associated it with a relationship especially. Thanks for the response.

That was beautiful. I have found at least a few Indian songs I like. Some of them are calming and even sad though they're in another language. My favorite Indian song is Tunak Tunak Tun by Daler Mehndi(sp?). I start bouncing around the house when I listen to that.

In my experience, songs with an orchestra undertone, or strings, will send shivers up my spine and elicit watery eyes. There are many theories out there about this. Check out "Illusion of Life" by Sellnow and Sellnow, dealing with the music's patterns of intensity and release, and its relationship to lyrics.

Yes! Rapp music makes me cry, but not with joy, but from driving sixteen penny nails in my ears with a hammer to try and stop the noise.

There are a few songs that make me cry, or at the very least get me all choked up. These are the sad ones about things like child abuse... Concrete Angel, Alyssa Lies, etc. and some sad love songs will also do it to me. Every once in a while some other songs will catch me off guard too, but I never know which ones, or when they will hit me.

Yep, I have also some. And one of them is Mama from Il Divo. Everytime I hear this song, I felt warm inside and my mind just wondering around. It reminds me about my mom. I lost her about 10 years ago on an accident. So,...whenever I hear it I'll get sand in my eyes....oeps, means crying, it really touch my heart, bring back all those memories of her and how much I miss her.....

Yes, a lot of songs makes me cry. Especially when I am alone, and I am listening to music, then the next minute I just find myself crying, huhuhu! I am a very sensitive person and every time I listen to music, I cry when I remember something... Songs just really make me cry...

While I'm not the biggest country music fan, I do enjoy a few songs. The saddest song I've ever heard in my life and cannot listen to without breaking down and bawling is
"Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley and Allison Krauss.
Another one that gets me is "Everybody Hurts" by REM

@Karmalina I have a lot of songs that make me cry but not because of the lyrics but because they remind me of some people that have past. I can relate to where I was at the time that a certain song was playing. Even at 73 years old. a song can come on and I am taken back in time.
One of the biggest songs that make me cry although there are a number of Elvis songs that do is, Old Shep. The music and lyrics are so sad about a man and his dog.
John Lennon's Imagine also. There are so many.

There's a few but the ones that spring immediately to mind are "This Year's Love" by David Gray (it reminds me of an ex), "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd (because it's a beautiful song) and "Angie" by the Rolling Stones (because it's such a sad story behind it). There are probably others because I'm always getting emotional about songs but these are the three that occur to me straight away.

The songs that made me cry are those that may not touch my heart but closely reflect the emotions I am going through or have gone through. Often, they are sad songs. Can you imagine that I can get misty over Silent Night Holy Night. I cannot believe it myself!

Alot of songs make me cry they usually have a meaning behind them for me like maybe it was a song shared by me and someone who was really close to me and maybe they are not no more. Gosphel songs always make me cry though. One of the songs that always make me cry is one called Just Close your Eyes by Westlife. This makes me think of someone special who is away. I will give you some of it
Just Close Your Eyes
Tommorrow morning i have to leave
But where ever i might be
best believe i am thinking of you
Cant beleive how much i love you
All we have is here tonight
We dont want to waste this time
Give me something to remember baby
Put you lips on mine
And i love u forever
Everytime that we find ourselves apart
Just close your eyes and youll be here with me
Look to your heart and that where ill be
Just close yours eyes till you dirft into dream
Youll never be too far from me
If you close you eyes.

When I seperate with my former bf, I will cry if I listen to some sad songs. I think it is connected with my mood. Now if I listen to those songs I will be in bad mood, but I will not cry.
But when I see some words about relationship beteen my former bf and I, I will drop tears, but not cry. Actually, he indeedly lived in with me for 3 years. He existed in my life. I think I can't forget him completely. Few days ago, I found an article about the same topic 'Don't forget,he existed in your life'. I can't help myself ot drop tears when I read it, it is a good article. Now we have seperated for 3 years, but I will drop tears when I read it.
