Hi everyone,
I have been on a number of diets before and many did not work at all. I have tried Slim Fast, cabbage soup diet, weight watchers ...and the list goes on. The one that worked for me the best was one I basically came up with on my own. It incorporates working out with a reduction in food. When I started this I was 232...now I am 170. And...I only began this at Christmas. Basically what it involves is the following:
running 3 times a week for 1 hour per day
raisin bran in morning
apple and orange for lunch
2 lean cuisines for supper
raisin bran for bedtime snack
It is really that simple. The success I have had on this is miraculous. I do not even find it hard anymore, and I continue to lose.
Does anyone else have diets that have worked for them. Or would anyone like to give mine a try....?
cheers

Hello golfproo
You really great with that,
I was try some diet pills but its didn't work on me.
The best diet i ever tried was exercise and managed my food
I go to the gym everyday and doing cardio exercise and weight training for 4 hours a day.
And the result is really fantastic, just eat my meal for lunch but still eat fruit and protein for my dinner (after finish from the gym) and drink low fat milk in the morning.
Drink a lot of water every day.
Not just slim i feel really fresh and health.
God bless you

I like Weight Watchers and that works best for me. I don't count points though, I use the core program for the most part. I do have to exercise though at least three or four times a week in order to keep the weight off. Like you, I have cereal for breakfast (either Rasin Bran or Special K) with fresh fruit, skim milk and ice tea. For lunch I either have a small sandwich or a Lean Cuisine and for snacks I keep a lot of the hundred calorie packs of munchies in the house along with fresh fruit. Dinner is usually something on the healthy side and that's really it. It really doesn't take a lot of thought on my part to follow it.

Mmmm Cabbage soup, I LOVE that stuff even when I'm thin. I Had tried everything and finally decided to go back to my high protein diet from body building. AND IT WORKED! After losing over 60lbs in 5 months, I found the "Eat right 4 Your Type" by Dr. Peter J. Adamo and it seems I had been doing exactly the right thing for my type O blood! I didn't just lose, I got lean and have never felt better in my life. I try to stay away from what I can't digest properly and it never fail to make me feel great.
Next time you make that cabbage soup instead of the dry onion soup mix try chicken noodle instead. Much better. Well that makes me want to go make a big pot tomorrow!
I really enjoy your discussions. Glad I found you!

I've been on LOCARB,NOCARB,LESSCARB,protein,Atkins and finally,I think I'm getting there.I need another 10kgs to lose.I've learned that how much I exercise if I keep indulging in sweets,I won't get the weight I want so I've been off icecream and chocolates for 3 weeks now.Hopefully this helps!I run or swim 3 times a week,I eat 2 big meals and 4 small meals everyday. And I drink lots of water. Will write more if I lose anymore! Thanks golfproo

Mine sounds a little similar to you. I tried many "diets" which never worked. So I just started to walk after supper and eat better foods. Then I cut out red meat. And going on the bike. Then I cut out chicken and all meat. And took up yoga. I am now vegetarian. We are active and go swimming, skating, walks after supper if it is not raining, hikes, badmonton, soccer. I workout in the basement gym every second day. Start with a cardo, then weights then yoga. I will eat nachoes and cheese saturday night washed down with a pepsi but I don't eat too much junk food. I don't have salt in the house and buy salt free items if possible. I use splenda in all my baking and try to fine low fat or sugar items too. We used to drink whole milk now drink skim. This is how it is now but we worked our way down to it so we didn't notice it. I didn't plan to go vegetarian it just ended up what we liked and felt good about. If anyone wants to truely lose weight and keep it off I think they need to change their lifestyle forever do they got to find something that they like to do cause you will have to eat that way forever. You can't just loose 50 pounds and go back to eating a couple burgers every night and expect not to gain it back. You have to do something that is fun. It doesn't feel like a chore for me to workout it is fun and makes me feel great, also I enjoy experimenting with new healthy dishes.
We are similar too. I was 220 and I am 150 now and at 5'10 that's pretty cool for me. Congrats on your success and finding something that works for you. Vicki
