I had a cat I was actually able to teach to sit. I'd say sit, and do the hand motion, and she'd do it everytime, especiallly if I had a treat lol :)

I have eight cats and at various times they have all chased their tail or played 'fetch'. I think I've done a great job socializing them with eachother and with people because for the most part they are quite happy to meet new friends. Sometimes I wonder if they act the way they do for extra attention since it's hard to make sure that each one of them gets exactly what he or she needs from my father and I. It's tough but I love every single one of them. They're great.

I think most people typecast cats and dogs too much. All my cats have tossed around toys, some much more than dogs, and all my animals of any species have been equally affectionate and attention hungry. All of them are just as social, as playful, and I have had several different species chase their tail... There is no such things as a cat acting "like a cat" or a dog "like a dog" - animals are as different as people.

yes they are all different with different personalities my last cat loved water too which is not said to be normal but when it comes down to it most have certain characteristics that are mainly considered dog like or cat like in general you have to agree most cats you see do not play fetch yes they may go after a toy if you throw it but there is a difference i happen to joy the different personalities and would never try to offend anyone it seams you may have been offended a bit personally i consider my cat part of my family as well as any other animal i have had you have no need to be offensive about it i am sure we both love our animals just as the others who have shared there cat stories

This is kinda funny because recenty I got a puppy and she does things that remind me of a cat. She chases bugs and eats them and likes to sit in the window sill. I've never seen a cat chase it's tail before. That is odd. Do you have toys for the cat to play with? Does the cat maybe have an irritation on it's tail that it is trying to get at?
