Never really understood the point behind the use of mail clients, I for one have never used an email client, for starters its a pain in the back side to set it up (not really) and besides when you are away and want to check mail on a public computer you obviously cannot do that with an email client. So which do you prefer webmail or mail clients?

Before we choose those two kind of email service, many kind of aspect that we have to think for example efficiency, the advantage of e-mail with pop3 feature and using the email client to access the email we can monitor and optimize our internet connection if we use limited internet connection, we connect to the internet if we want to check e-mail and disconnect it when finish check it, and then read all the e-mail and reply as necessary so we can more efficient.
If we using webmail i think it is not so efficient, it is ok if we have unlimited internet connection or our internet connection is cheap bcause if we want to check, read and reply it we must online.

I use a client on my home computer. I use MS Outlook and Not Outlook Express which doesnt have all the functions I like. I use to for my calender my contacts and it is a way to save all the emails that I want to save with out using up the webspace I have. Now I can also access my email through a webmail program but I definatly prefer my client program.

Yes, you are right that some email clients are tricky to set up. On the other hand, you will really need to trust the web mail provider, since you're messages will always be hosted on that provider's servers. This means that any sensitive information might fall in the wrong hands.
This privacy/security problem also exists with email clients. Using an email client implies that you are very probably using an account provided by your internet service provider. Such companies are generally reliable and if a problem happen then you have many ways to contact the provider and file a complaint.

I must say that the use of email clients is decreasing steadily, The main advantage for the use of a client was that you can store all your email on your computer locally and are accessible when ever you want them and they do not count towards your storage space in your mailbox, this was before the unlimited storage space provided by gmail, rediff....etc and was from the era of dial-up connections where you had to dial-in and were charged for the amount of time one was online so people used clients to download stuff to their computers and access them when ever they wanted, since these are no concerns now, one can go ahead and use WebMail.

I agree that they are sometimes difficult to configure but they can make browsing emails very easy. And they can take all the email at once and you can browse them offline.
I don't use them because I only use gmail now and it very simple to use it, and since I don't receive much mail, I guess I don't need to configure this trick to configure clients.
