How good is Avast antivirus software?

The Avast antivirus home edition which is free for non commercial use, how good is it, does it protect your computer like the commercial one's like Norton,kaspraskey, avg....etc? What is your Take on this?

ashwin308 I would suggest you to go for windows live onecare, just download it and install it and disconnect from the Internet and run it, it would cure most of the problems your pc is facing. here is the link:

if you have to give up either your pc(with a fast internet connection) or your tv(with cable) which one will you give uP adn why? me, i'd rather give my tv up...you can watch shows on the internet anyway...haha..

Never really understood the point behind the use of mail clients, I for one have never used an email client, for starters its a pain in the back side to set it up (not really) and besides when you are away and want to check mail...

ashwin308 I must say that the use of email clients is decreasing steadily, The main advantage for the use of a client was that you can store all your email on your computer locally and are accessible when ever you want them and they do not count towards your storage...

Do you get those annoying email forwards stating for e.g if you send this to 10 people, you will meet the love of you life?? I mean we didn't really sign up for email so that we could enjoy more junk mail. It is a total waste...

ashwin308 Chain letters are nothing but crap, some are even used to propagate viruses, so If you get one the thing to do is to delete it right away.
