Well as far as any laptop computer goes you can plug it in the wall it doesn't matter if it has apple or Windows. I really like Windows it's very "user friendly" which makes it really easy to navigate and use. The only thing apple is good for is photo and video editing, other than that I would highly recommend Windows. The new laptop I have with Windows would out beat any apple computer with it's power so I really like Windows the best.

A Mac is a very reliable computer, it comes with the most of the equipment and features that one require, in built into it, but if you are the kind or person who uses all the latest softwares and gadgets than you need to stick with Windows, because you don't find many options in software and peripherals for a Mac.

Apples know for being good and powerful.
Although I'm sure you'll see it's not much different and it isn't that powerful. Mac's have huge limits which microsoft windows also has but has things to help it.
If he buys a decent model I'm sure it'll be fine

Apple computers have been always much easier to use than PCs (with Windows). The interface of Apple computers is also much nice and has cool features. So you should not worry about that.
