Here we usually drink a bowl of soup before a meal. After the meal, we also drink the soup. Soup is very important to our meal. Almost every meal we will have a soup. I come from Guangzhou, China.

It's usually thick, cooked by cheese or butter.

You know, here in the US it's hard to find traditional Chinese recipes. Most books on Chinese cooking have very royal dishes. I like traditional food better! Would one of you plase tell us a recipe for the clear soup and vegetables? It looks so good!

Do you like the soup of this attached photo? It's a very common soup for us. And this soup is also very healthy. It's very easy to cook, too. You can put the meat, radish, sweet date, corn inside the water. Boil them for about one hour, add a little salt and it'll be done.

I either have soup before the meal or as the meal. A couple of nights ago, I made potato asparagus soup as the meal served with bread.

Hi youless, in our family we take soup before or in between our food. we never take it after our meals. I am a vegetarian and my family (in-laws) are non-vegetarian , but i dont cook any non-veg item. they sometime like to have a veg or a chinese soup in the starting and then some non - veg item like fried fish or chicken or so. these too items are most of the time liked and ordered by us. so, we have soup in the starting and then our meal.

I don't always have soup with every meal. But I don't have any preference regarding when I drink it. Usually it would be with the meal, or after the meal. For western meals though, the soup will definitely be before the main course. But that's the western way.

We normally have our soup during our meals time. Most of the time we add the veggies or chicken or beef or fish or fish ball/fish cake in the soup. We did not add the flour in our soup like what the western peoples always do with their soup. Our soup is clear soup and added with herbs and spices. we eat them alonng with the other dish and rice.

Soup is a must in our family meal. We normally don't drink the soup after a meal but drink it in between. Sometimes we only have one dish of soup and rice for our meal. A soup can be a meal by itself, I load it with a lot of vegetables and meat. This save me cooking other dishes.
