Which English do you prefer or speak, British or American?
When I first learn English, I've been taught American English, I think American is easy to learn. When I watch TV, I found British accent is very beautiful, but I can sound like that. Which do you prefer?

that british accent takes a really good effort to carry through if compared to that of the american english. try it before a mirror and you will the big difference in you mouth movements when you do the american english first then the british english using the same sentence.

Hi, ellie. I like British, too, but I can't sound like that. (I forgot to type "'t" on above). It like a song when they speaking.

Since I am British, of course I like it better.
I like American too, but I prefer British mostly because it is spoken correctly, the language I mean. There is too much slang in the American language, IMO.

Sabwinner, I prefer American English. I'm having a hard time in understanding British English. Maybe because I grew up in a country that was under the American rule for more than 50 years.

I want to learn British English because the accent fascinates me so much. Speaking British English gives you a posh-feel. :)

I am an American but I love the differences in our languages. When I could watch the British shows on Public TV. I loved to hear the differences. Here in America we would say we are going to the hospital, they would as going to hospital. our cars have a trunk theirs has a boot, We have gasoline or gas, they have petrol. I like the accent of the British, Scottish, Irish and Australians. To me our language seems a bit harsh and theirs sort of musical.

Here in India most of the people speakold classical English with little local accent. South Indian accentia more noticable! But the base of English is classical.
I know good English lover people are saying that the real flavour of English is available in India! And we have recognized American and Indian mixed English as Hinglish!

in the philippines, we are using the american english. british english is much easier to understand as it is well enunciated but that will take too much effort to do if compared to the way taht americans are doing it.

The English that prevail in India is based on British English. India was a colony of Britain for centuries you see. They have introduced English in India and hence influence of British English is still there. I prefer and use British English.

Hello, sabwinner,i have to say i like british accent, their pronications are wonderful and people who are listening will love their conversations.
In fact, even within Amercia, there may be different accents, people in some states may speak faster while other people will speak with drawls in their convesation which may not be easy to understand for foreigners.
