Why are some people so rude?

Unfortunately, you'll find this attitude on many message boards, not just at mylot. I actually think mylot does well compared to a lot of other boards. Some people just have to be rude and nasty when they disagree. They don't have a reasonable argument and they hope to intimidate others into silence. Try to ignore them and don't let them keep you from visiting here and don't let them bully you into not sharing your opinion.

I love mylot. I have only once gotten a very rude response to a discussion I responded to. It really made me quite upset as someone accused me of abusing my child!! I try to avoid any discussions that that person starts and life has been much happier here on mylot for me. I am sorry to hear that you are getting some hateful responses. I think that if someone disagrees with a discussion they can be tactful about stating their opinions without being rude.

I have read some rather not so pleasant responses or responses that were inapproriate but nothing down right offensive. In any case, I think rudeness for the most part is a lack of good communication and interpersonal skills. To see what I mean, compare two people you know, one with good people skills and the other without and notice how different they relate to the same situation.... Don't take it personal b/c the truth is, some people are so lacking that they are unaware of their attitude and demeanor.....Don't let people run you off and don't waste valuable time w/ such negative people... There are plenty of posts and nice people on here, spend your time with them and not going back and forwards with negative/rude people. Simply put, just ignore them.....Nothing grounds a person more than being ignored. And, you will be doing them a favor and helping improve their attitude by ignoring them.... All the best

I know exactly what you mean. Just because you don't agree with them don't mean that they are wrong or right it just means you disagree. Some people just can't accept the fact that other people don't believe the way they do and it is ok. Some people just want to think that they are right for whatever reason and they will try to find whatever they can to make you change your mind. I just try to ignore it and move on that is all you can do.

I guess we are going to find hateful, unfriendly people no matter where we go. Including the internet unfortunately. Why anyone would have to be that way on what's basically a forum site is beyond me but maybe their having a bad day and need people to take it out on. As for foul language isn't that something that should be reported to mylot?
