Activities for Children

May 16, 2007 12:48pm CST
I am thinking of starting a website with activities for parent to do at home with their children. It would be split into 3 ages toddlers, nursery age and key stage 1 (5-7). The activities would be to help with maths, reading and writing as well as topic work on science, humanities and art. I was wondering if parents thought that this type of site would be something they would visit and whether they would use it. Also whether they would be prepared to pay for books of activities if they liked the examples on the site.

I run a daycare and I am always looking for different activities to do with the kids. I probably would not pay for a book of activities as there are many sites where you can get free info.

I always love things that can give me more ideas how to keep my children busy. I frequently use the sites, www.familyfun.com, www.pbskids.org, and www.nickjr.com. I would love to have another site to help me encourage them to be more active! I am also prone to buy activity books. I have stacks of them! If there are other parents like me, I would say GO FOR IT! Sounds like it would be a lot of fun (and work for you!) Best wishes to you!!!

I buy a lot of those activity books as well as I find they are great when you don't have time to work with an activitity with your child, so can just tell them what to do at the start of each page then leave them to get on with it for a while.

I think this is an excellent idea and if I had younger kids I am sure I would be a frequent visitor to this site. My son is a bit older now and I wish I had had an easier life to have been able to offer him better chances and more variety but I was quite ill for a long time and I didn't have a pleasant loving environment, now I am out of my past marriage I am hoping to give my son a better life than before. I think you are a very decent person with great moral values. I wish the world had more role models like you. Why people like Britney Spears get all the limelight and not people like you?

I would love to visit such site because it would certainly give me some ideas. But as to paying for books, I may also be prepared to pay for them IF I can't find anything similar from where I live. It would be more expensive for me to buy the books over the internet actually so I prefer to buy them locally. Thanks!

I'd love to get into that, I'm more of an internet type of person versus books (saves paper lol), but I'd pay a fee for a site when my son is a bit older, we might homeschool for preschool, etc. Maybe you could get a trial offer for people to try it out or maybe you could have it available to view blips of the website to see if someone would be interested in it.

I often look for sites that have activities that I can do with my children. I often go to http://www.coolmath.com/home.htm when I am looking for some math activities for my children. My childrens school recommended http://www.starfall.com/ to help them learn to read. I would be very interested in the site that you are thinking about starting. I would also be interested in paying for books that have the same kind of activities as well.
