What Do You Do During A Thunderstorm?

We are expected to have bad storms here early evening. Usually I shut all the windows and don't use the telephone or television. In a real bad storm I will shut down the computer as well, but I definitely won't use it at the very least during a thunderstorm. What do you do if anything during a thunderstorm? Do you take any special precautions or do you just do whatever you normally do?

Well, I am very crazy about this kind of stuff because I have a large fear of storms which started when I experienced my first tornado at 6 years old. And I fear house fires as I accidently set my parents living room on fire when I was 4. Yep, I need therapy I am sure. :-) But to answer your question, I close the windows (fear of water coming in and dripping into electrial outlets sparking a fire). I turn off and unplug all TV's (3 of them) my two computers, and everything else that I can get my hands on. The only things left plugged in are the fridge and stove because it's too hard for me to move them. haha And I go nuts if my children even attempt to go near the windows. And no using the phone, washing the dishes, or taking a bath because I might get electricuted. It's okay if you say it - I have issues. lol But at least they aren't dangerous ones.

During bad thunderstorms, I will have to shut the windows and close doors. I will continue to watch T.V. and pickup telephone calls.

During a thunderstorm, I run to my balcony, and feel the forcefull stormy winds on my face, and on my body. I like the cool winds, and the howling sound that's created by them. I also like the rain that comes with such storms. I stretch my hand outside the balcony railing to feel the rain drops on my palm. It feels great.

There isn't much to do during a thunderstorm. And the best thing to do is light some candles and turn the lights of to avoid some electric damage. What sometimes I do is play Nintendo GameBoy since it uses battery.

I am terrified of storms. I also live in a mobile home. If a storm comes up I gather my pets and we head to my parent's house, which is made of brick. I feel much safer there.

We get really bad thunderstorms in our area during the summer time. Most times, I turn off and unplug the computer so that it doesn't get damaged during a power surge. One of my other computers stopped working after lightening hit the power lines and caused a power surge. The rain storm happened overnight while the computer was still plugged up. We were all asleep. The next morning, the computer just didn't come back on!

The thunderstorms here are normally not so serious but I still have to take necessary precautions. I used to switch off my computer and other delicate electronic or electrical devices. My modem was struck twice so I wasted some money to get a new one. Anyhow I used a big pail to collect rain water for watering plants.

I always shut down the computer and usually stay off the phone. I do like to keep the TV on for company though.

I would just be calm..holding somebody's hands..and watch it..It's exciting to watch it when everyone is silent. Even though the sounds scare us,we still love to watch & i don't the reason why.

I love thunder storms and I love watching thunder storms. I will be outside up until the point I can't see anything anymore. I remember this one time we had tornado sirens going off but my dad and I were standing outside in our driveway looking at the sky. It looked so beautiful out and it was so peaceful. My mom was screaming her head off for us to get inside, but it was just so cool being outside. Eventually we went in and ended up going downstairs into our basement but up until that point, I was just in awe! With thunderstorms, there isn't too much to be prepared for in my area. Its just a lot of rain, wind, thunder and lighting. I'll usually sit by my window and watch the rain drops fall. It's very relaxing!

In Singapore, it is pretty safe indoor. Our buildings are well protected against lightning and nothing will happen (at least I don't think anything has happened ever in our history) as long as you stay indoors. If you are outdoors, well, the usual rules apply everywhere. We don't have too pretty storms here anyway and I am thankful actually.

during a thunderstorm,i prefer to stay at home, and yes,i have to close all the windows,i don't want the rain to get in.and i don't turn on the tv,i am afraid that the thunder will damage it.about the computer, you know,if tv is unavaiable, computer is my only resort,so i sometimes will risk it.when the thunder is too loud,i have to cut off electric powers of many electrical devices, including computer.then,i have to pick up a book, and read it.sometimes i will prepare some snacks in advance, eating while reading is a good choice for me during bad weather.

Whenever we have a bad storm I always turn the computers off and unplug them that goes for the television too. Any electronic we have will be unpluged and never use the telephone during the storm it's very dangerous. Sometime I open the window just a lttle bit but not much.

I personally love thunderstorms. I love to watch them and to listen to them. I don't change anything during the thunderstorm unless it starts getting really nasty. Mostly though we get cheesy thunderstorms and they aren't worth shutting "my life" down for lol. Now if they make a point of using the emergency broadcast system (the annoying thing on tv they run every month) and they say that the storm is heading this way and it is really bad, then around the time it is supposed to pass through I might shut my computer down only because I can't afford a new one or to be without this one lol.

i shut down the computer in particular, and if it's a really bad storm, unplug it (i have a surge protector-a previous storm took one out once). i'll usually watch the storm from the window. i usually have to console some terrified cats also. all of my current ones are scared by storms.

Yes I do the same thing. When i was little my mother wouldn't even let us talk when it was thundering and lighting outside she said it was a sign of respect for God. I still believe that until this day. : )
