LOL my wedding dress was made for me and it was purple :-D not a deep purple but a bit darker than lavander....If I would have had a big wedding either in the U.S or Canada (we got married in Jamaica) I would have worn a black and red dress :-D

Ooo...black and ed sounds so pretty. I wish I had the guts for that, those are my favourite colours. I'm way to superstitious to wear black on my wedding day, though.

LOL if we ever renew our vows I'm wearing a black and red wedding dress and I want the whole theme to be dark and gothic...the way I see it is this, if nothign has split us up yet, nothing will so there isnt anything to worry about LOL beside black and red are both so gorgeous and look fabulous together LOL

Yeah, but I read in a traditions book that wearing black means your spouse will die soon after the wedding. That scares me too much to test it out. Even though those are the colours I wear almost all the time anyway.
For a renewal I want to save up a lot and have a big wedding in DisneyWorld. Their dream wedding program is so gorgeous.

I think a wedding dress can be any colour the bride declares these days! I would love to get married in a simple, classic stlye, red dress! I think it looks stunning! Unfortunately I have neither the complexion or the figure to pull it off! Mind you I think I need to find myself a husband to be first lol!

I plan to wear red when I get married. I don't want a white gown, I want something with more colour!!! I am going to wear red, nd my bridesmaids are going to wear blue. The men will wear black suits with my fiance in a red tie and his attendants with blue ties.

The white is official color. But some brides can wear pink too. Mild, pastel color. Pink suggests love and romantic. Of course, if the ceremony is not so traditional- you can marry in normal clothes, for example roker clothes:-) Or just a elegant dress in light color.

I think white is a traditional wedding color period, and really doesn't have to mean your pure. I take it as more of as a symbolic function, you're submitting to the love of your life, you're starting over, that kind of thing. I really don't think you need to be 'pure' to wear white, that's just silly.

I was not pure and I wore white to my wedding. I didn't wear the veil over my face. You can wear what you want its your wedding. I seen a wedding yesterday where the girl wore pink. go figure.

The colour of Roman Catholics traditional wedding gown is always white. Priest will object if the bride wears other coloured gowns. Widowed Hindu women always has to wear white dress.

I think these days it really doesn't matter. Christianity isn't the sole religion of ceremonious weddings anymore and other religions regard other colours and customs for the day. Also, people are more apt to be unique on their special day without worrying about what others might think. There are even people whoget married in full costumes like goth and Celtic. I live in Las Vegas, and you may have heard of the hotel casino called the Excalibur, which is rennaisance themed. Their wedding chapel offers costume rental and apparently is a very popular item.
I myself am hoping to add a bit of colour. I'm getting a traditional white ballgown, but I think I'm going to add a bright red sash or something to match my roses and my Maid of Honour.

White color is simple i think, it reflects chastity and purity. Nowadays, white gowns were being mixed by some light colors as design say baby pink, light green, baby blue, gold..etc. but the major color of the gown is white.
Gown color depends on your choice, where do you think you might be comfortable with, besides you will be the one who will wear it. For me, i still prefer pure white gown.

it's not really a must to wear white although it has really become a traditional color for wedding gowns. here in our country, white is also the traditional color but i've seen a friend of mine wear a silver gown for her wedding. and i find it cool.
so, it's really up to the bride to choose what color she wants. you don't have to give in to your country's custom and tradition if you think it just won't fit your taste. you can be free and set a new trend. it's all up to you, girl! :)
