I have a friend who owes me a lotta money
he was my childhood friend until money came in between
i m trying to get the amount slowly and also revive the friendship, but he is a sneaky bas**** now.
so i guess, lending money and finding out the true nature of a friend is a perfect, but expensive idea

i feel embarrassed when i have to ask someone to return me money. luckily i do not have any friend like your friend who is not willing to return. my friends doesn't return money just because they forget about it so i have to try to remind them without embarrassing them. it's really hard. sometimes i don't like to lend money to others not because i don't like to help others but because i feel embarrassed to ask them to return the money.

If it is a small amount I don't ask for it back. Needless to say, I don't lend more than I can afford to.
Now, if I lend a substantial amount to someone and I have to ask for it back, I don't feel embarrassed what I feel is mad.
People know when they owe money, so having to ask for it back doesn't reflect on the lender, it reflects moreso on the borrower I think, at least that is my opinion, and that's why I feel mad if I have to ask to get my money back.... The lender shouldn't feel bad or embarrassed, for what? If anything, I feel the borrower should feel embarrassed for us having to ask for it back.
Great topic, welcome to Mylot.

yup..a lot of times actually...and i end up not getting back my money..i can only remind the person, if i get a no answer, i don't expect anymore that person will pay me back... i had an experience recently...actually two cases, two of my close friends borrowed money from me out of emergency...well, i can't ignore them because they are my friends..months have passed i haven't heard a thing from them and no terms were given as to when they plan to pay me back..but anyway, they are my friends... probably they have reasons why they cannot pay..instead of getting mad at them...i compliment myself by saying that at least during the tough moments of their lives, i was able to lend a helping hand.. :)

I hate to have to ask someone...but I will after awhile if it is a good amount..I have let a friend borrow 5 dollars here and there and not get payed back..makes me not think they are really a true friend to me..
