I'm in pain again! It's that time of the month! I normally get cramping for an hour or so and then things begin! But this month I have been cramping now for two whole days! The sort of cramps that have you doubled over and shoot down your legs and back! Feeling sick and had a blinding headache. I've been taking painkillers but they're not having much effect! I know once things begin I'll be absolutely fine!
I know I'm not pregnant as I've had a coil for the last year or so!
Sorry for whinging but I am really in so much pain and it's starting to get me down now.

I think there must be something wrong with your body, maybe you can go to the doctor's as soon as possible,or maybe your pain will last for a longer time and happen more frequently. At the same time ,don't worry about it too much ,do not always think about the pain ,keep yourself happy ,and do something you really like ,for example ,singing, cooking, drawing and so on .maybe your pressure will be reduced, and your pain will go away much more quickly.Wish you get back to health soon!

I say if you have a hot water bottle around use it. Lie down with pillows under your head, your back and your feet, this will get the blood flowing. Also use the water bottle on your stomach. Close your eyes and breath. This happend to be before, but for me it was worse, I started to bleed and unfortunatly for nearly 2 years my period didn't stop, and I became anemic with an extreamly low iron level. Try to get the rest you need. NO MORE PAIN KILLERS!! This will make it worse. If you still dn't feel any better, please see a doctor. I hope you feel better soon.

OMG. That is awful! Yes I have been doing the breathing! They are like mini contractions! So all those breathing exercises learnt when bpregnant are still coming in handy. I will try the hot water bottle again today.

A few months ago I posted a discussion on this and I got a lot of good suggestions. Do look into my profile and to into the discussions i've started. I'm sure you'll benefit from all the answers I got. Don't take any more painkillers because the relief they give are just temporary and in the end they won't do you any good. There was a whole week I took painkillers and later I got nauseated. I have sciatica on my right leg and with it I used to have cramps daily. One of the suggestions was to eat bananas. I think it works, plus I've been taking zinc tablets, Vitamin C and cod liver oil and these all work together. You will also learn some useful exercises to do from some of the replies. I hope you'll get some relief.

I am sorry that you are in pain....I understand....I am currently going through menopause...but have not forgotten the horribe wrentching pain that I felt each and every month....for me, most pain killers just did not help....Midol or Pamprin where the only medications that actually gave me much relief...
Another thing that I frequently found helpful was a heating pad across my abdomen or lower back...you know the spots.....I would switch it back and forth occassionally.....then "veg out" on the couch in my baggie sweats and a t-shirt....for at least 24-36 hours before the real fun came....well, you know what I mean!!
Hang in there, hun....also a snall pillow under my leg when I slept sometimes helped....I hae a habit of sleeping on my sides...the small pillow helped to keep my hips aligned, causing less strain on my already hurting lower back....
Hope that some of this helps.....

Thank you for your adice. However I'm not sur eabout the site. Fasting and raw meats are not really something I would be interested in, even if I believed them to be safe.
I think that web site should be examined with caution.

I have an marinna IUD which helps out quite a bit with cramps and keeps me from getting pregnant. It's been the best thing for me.Even when I get my period it's very light and I don't get alot of pain.I don't know if it will work for alot women but it worked for me.

You may having something worse than being pregnant. If I were you, I would get to a doctor and soon. This could be serious. I have known women in your situation, and it turned out to be very serious. You could have tumors, a problem with your ovalries, or lymphnodes. Get to a doctor asap.

This is not good. Are you using the pain killers that are specific to period pain? They are much more effective that ordinary pain killers.
Although I have never used the coil, I have heard that occassionally they can cause problems. Would it be advisable for you to get this checked out by a Doctor?
I gather the belleding hasn't actually started, just the cramping? Your Doctor may want to give you something to get things more in a routine.
Good Luck.

I understand i always suffer every month from those cramps.Worst thing is that iu feel the cramps a week before it comes.
I also look very pale and feel nausea ( hope i spelled it write).
You can try to massage your own feet it could work because there are some places which shows us where the pain comes from also try to massag your lower back a little bit above your butt because that also works. You can also massage you legs a little that also works to stop the pain.Try to drink much water as in no more than 8 glasses water also works moving and exercises can work too.

Sorry to hear your in pain. my suggestion would be to go and see your doctor. It might just be a minor thing but I think it's better to go and find out. You shouldn't be in that much pain for no reason so I really think you should go , don't put it off. I hope your feeling better soon, take care.

Hmm have you mentioned this to your doctor? I think you should? The coil you refer to, is that an IUD? You do realize that IUD's don't prevent an egg from being fertilized, only from implantation right? So you could be getting pregnant every single month and not implanting the baby?

Well I had the coil for years with no ill-effects, though I think the mirena one specifically, may cause some problems as it produces progesterone straight into your system, and progesterone is known to cause period cramps and make them worse. When I was younger, I had endometriosis, so I got used to cramps like that pretty much for 1 week a month, - it's only now I'm older and in peri-menopause, that the pain has eased. All I can suggest is a hot water bottle to ease the pain, and try andf rest as much as possible.
