How many of you out there work from your homes or via internet?

I myself work from home right now using my computer and the internet doing transcription work. Although presently, since i just started my work a few weeks ago, my pay is not as high as when i was working for a company. But i have been enjoying it since i save a lot by not commuting to work, by not having to eat lunch at a canteen or restaurant, and i get to keep an eye on my kids, which is the part of work at home that i truly enjoy. How many of you out there work at home and what kinds of jobs do you do? Do you enjoy it or wish that you were working in an office or somewhere outside your home?

I actually am not working right now. I wish that I could find something to do at home. Who do you do transcription work for. I am working on getting a company started up and would love the extra cash. I get to spend time with my girls also. i love being at home and would love it more if I was making some money.

hello, spasm,I am not working at home full time,I am working outside home in the retail industry,I think i will be happy if i can earn the same amount of money that i can earn in my day job so i can work at home full time. I only 'work' at home to earn a bit extra money,at this moment,i just have mylot and some other survey sites as my main source of my online income.

Yeah, that would be great if we could actually make a living out of doing surveys, joining websites, etc. from the comfort of our homes. My work, actually its already like a business, is just starting so i cant actually say im raking in the money. but i see the potential and i have confidence in myself to do it properly and make it successful. although i miss the regular salary a regular job brings. Thanks for the response!

I work from home as a complementary therapist qualified in reflexology, indian head massage, reiki and thermo-auricular therapy. I also do waxing and sugaring. I dont make a lot of money but it pays the bills and the mortgage so thats ok. Im also just starting to get into the internet and make money that way although I dont expect to make loads, but a little extra will always come in handy.

wow! that's great! i surely need to have some reflexology done on my back. You know what, stress-related illnesses or conditions is the next big epideminc coming our way, if its not already here. so if you're involved in something which provides stress relief, be it nontraditional or traditional healing practices, you are going to enjoy a lifetime of good income!

...well, I'm trying.. Got my website up and working.. I do astrology charts and forecasts and monthly calendars.. Now for some marketing, which has always been my weak point.. I also write and am looking into writing e-booka, and publishing on lulu.com.. I'm at home because hubby is a truck driver, and it was good for someone to be here for the kids.. Now it's the grand kid.. Besides, like you mentioned, I spent more money when I worked outside the home, buying more meals, daycare, etc.. Good luck with your working at home! :))

Hi flowerchilde! Thanks for the response and good luck to you as well with your website. I also would like to learn how to put up a website, and maybe even learn how to do website design or webhosting. i believe these types of work have a high income potential, this i gleaned from just looking at the job offerings in freelance work websites. But its not just about the money though. Both my wife and I are working and money is tight, but i believe in the benefits of spending more time with the kids and seeing them grow up (mine are still young, 3 and 7) and i do believe having a parent at home has a big impact on their well-being. I took a huge pay cut by making this shift but like i said, i see the benefits and i do believe in the potential success of what im doing. Now, if i could just get someone else to pay the bills.....hmmmmm....LOL! Have a nice day!!

i work from home. I have a salon attached to our home., and run a small beauty salon from it. i love my job, and thank god every day that i wake up and have clients to do! Its my favorite thing to do, cutting and coloring, and its so nice to not have to go and get the car warmed up in the winter, or now with the gas prices go driving back and forth everyday!

i used to work in an office but, i had to leave it in favor of taking care of my sick son fulltime. he has survived through the years and, that is so much compensation for me. i would like to know about this transcription job of yours. i need to know some details, as to how were you able to secure it for yourself as a home-based worker. please provide me some information because, i am interested in this. i am considering enrolling in a medical transcription course next month and, hope to get a job, then know the intricacies of it to be able to become home-based.

Hi spasm061568! I work at home also. I am a medical transcriptionist for a local hospital. I have been on contract with them since 1998. I thoroughly enjoy my job. Like you I like it best because I have been able to be at home with my kids. They are older now but it is still great to be at home. :)

I am working a part time job outside my home now, but my big dream is to get my home business up and running to have a steady paycheck. I worked outside my home for 21 years as a pharmacy technician. I got burned out and decide to try to be a stay at home mom, but I got bored so I took a part time job near my home in a resturaunt. I am also a Home and Garden Party designer, selling home furnishings, doing home parties and book parties. It is kind of a slow start up, but I am planning to do an open house in a month, to try to generate some new people to do home parties. All my friends and family are getting tired of either having one or going to parties. If I can do 3 parties in a week I will make a steady income and be able to quit my part time job. This is the goal I have set for myself to complete by the end of summer.

Hi! good luck on your business. It seems a great business to get into. Is your kind of business a seasonal thing? i mean of course during spring and summer when the weather is nice, i bet you can generate a lot of business. Maybe also you can give us tips on how you started with that. Don't worry about competition as i believe we are thousands of miles from each other...LOL!

That would be great wouldn't it? I would love that, too, but I have not found anything that can bring in the amount of money I could get from doing home parties.

it based work from home here... are you transcribing for a single company or several? hope you're hipaa compliant, both with handling phi and transmission/reception of data... since most companies cut back on costs, if you provide something in addition to pure transcription, you'll have the edge on other transcriptionists...
• Philippines
20 May 07
thanks for the response! yup, hipaa compliance is very important. used to do med trans for a single company, facility based. but now im homebased, i do mostly general trans/business trans. its a cutthroat business so most companies now also offer medical billing, entertainment transcription, etc. i also try to bid on freelance sites, but not too much success for transcription jobs. mostly offered are IT related jobs.

I actually do both. I work outside the home and also have an online store that carries home decor, gifts and collectibles. The pay is better outside the home but in a perfect world, being at home making money is so much better, especially with the high gas prices the way they are.

my job is home based. i have decided to work at home to avoid the hassles of commuting and ending up spending more than what i am earning. i am just starting my online work but haven't got into something concrete yet.i have a distribution work but it still entails delivery and a lot of physical work.hopefully, within the year i will start something on line.

I work form home as a freelance writer. I love it and am very grateful to be able to stay home with my sons all day. Though once and while I wish I could get out of the house and be around more adults.

I am not working from home but working for extra at home here in mylot. I tried to look for such kind of opportunity before, but i think it is not applicable in my country. Surveys and trascriptinalist were mostly in US and UK. So, i still have to work outside to sustain me and my family's financial needs.

i don't have a job yet, i'm currently a college freshman. anyway, after i'm done in college, i want to have a sideline in creating softwares and websites and work from my house and just submit it online. that sounds so handy. because after i get back from office work, i could do just that. hassle-free, besides, i enjoy troubling myself with logical questions.

I have not been working for 7 months, as I need to take care of my kids. I do wish to find a work that can work from home. Unfortunately, I yet to find one. I try to do survey on-line. Gash! Seem like it don't goes well. So, I give it a miss. Now, I still in the process of looking for job that can work from home. Good luck to you and happy that you have found a job to work from home. Cheers!
