What do you think of the birdbath that I just put out in my backyard?

I just received this birdbath yesterday and have put it out in front of my shed in my backyard. I am going to get my landscaping friend to help me decorate around it to make it more attractive to the birds. What do you think and do you have any suggestions with what to put around it? It has both a shallow end and deep end for various types of birds.

I love bird baths and bird feeders. We are also trying to get some more landscaping done in our back yard also. We have done a little bit back there but still have alot more to do. I would decorate around it with some lava rock and maybe put some artificial flowers in the ground around the base of it unless you prefer real flowers. You could also decorate around the bowl with a green vine type floral arrangement that is also artificial.

I do not have a bird feeder as of yet but that will come soon hopefully after taking care of my possible mold situation in my home. Those are great ideas that you have for decorating around the birdbath. I had to keep my roommate out of the birdbath. LOL Just kidding.

Often times people do forget that birds not only need food but water as well. Providing water near the feeders will keep them coming back.

That is awesome that you feed the birds everyday and sounds like you have a wonderful place to take care of them. I have yet to see one bird in my birdbath and plan on getting a birdfeeder very soon as well to feed them. Does putting ice cubes in the water help?

I feed the birds in my yard everyday. It's very hot and humid here in New Jersey today, so I filled the bird bath with water and put ice cubes in it.
So far this morning I've seen Robins, Doves, Finches, Black Birds, Crows and a Cardinal splashing in the water. I wish they could smile so I could see how happy they are.
I bought two frozen pizzas for a dollar each. I put one in the oven and it was aweful. I only ate one slice.
So I put the rest of it outside by the birdbath and I also put the other frozen one there.
My yard now looks like a bird sanctuary. They are all over the place. I guess birds like pizza with sausage.
The house squirrel is also out there eating the crust. I have a squirrel that basically lives in my yard.

Ken, It's a beautiful birdbath..but perhaps if you snap another picture when there is no shadow the full beauty can be seen..I love it;)_+

That is looking so much better now that the shadows have moved on and the pebbles, Ken, are a really nice addition..
I have seen some people put a little edging around to keep the pebbles from being carried into the gras....Have you ever thought of that?:)+

Thank you for the compliments my dear friend. Here is a newer picture as I already had some work done. I bought some pebbles to put around the birdbath. My friend dug an area to put the birdbath in and filled around it with the pebbles. A birdfeeder will be next.

I'm glad I checked on today. The last we talked about this, was when I suggested a nursery to visit. Where did you end up buying it? It is lovely. Since you are an artist, why don't you paint on it. I think that would look so cool. Enjoy it, and keep posting what kind of birds come to it. God bless you my friend. M&M

I ended up buying one from Amazon.com as it was on sale. It is very nice though I have yet to see any birds use it but probably need to get something that will make the water move. I will take pictures when I see birds there using it. Great idea about designing it with my artwork.

I'm afraid I must be having trouble with my internet speed or something today as I can't see pics or some avatars at the moment (they lok like boxes with crosses in them) But I'm sure it is a lovely birdbath! I had one in the last place I lived and my daughter planted a lot of pretty petunias and daisies around it. She also put little butterflies and bees on sticks etc around the base and coloured stones to make it her fairy garden! It was very pretty in the bottom corner of our garden -maybe the fairies did visit there!!!

maybe you could put some shiny stones or kinds of pebbles in the bird bath and a small water jet in the middle with some ivy wrapped around the base to make it more colorful or you could put some stones around the bath on the garden and some small paving slabs like a walkway up to it your friend should have some good ideas

Actually I have already done this as I have pebbles surrounding the base of the birdbath. I also relocated the birdbath to the middle of my backyard and hopefully will have a birdfeeder to go along with it for them to enjoy. It will be even nicer when I get the birdfeeder as my friend, who is a landscaper, has some creative ideas.

I am happy that you got your bird bath. I love to watch the birds. They are so cute and funny playing in the water. Your plans sound very nice, It would look nice with a bird house close by and of course you need some bird feeders. Good luck and have fun. I haven't been on mylot much this month, with the nice weather I have been busy.

It is wonderful to watch the birds play around in the water and be able to cool off during the summer and having something to drink. A bird feeder will be the next thing that I will put out there and possibly a bird house. I have the woods right behind me so I am not sure if a house is necessary. I have been pretty busy myself lately.

This will look great when you get some other stuff around it. Maybe you might want to do like Red Rock around it with some little decorations like Squirrels etc. that will sit there? Make it to where it looks like it is sitting in an area where a lot of nature would hang out.

The next thing that I want to get is a birdfeeder so that the birds will have food and water to enjoy. My neighbor is going to help with the landscaping around the birdbath so hopefully in the near future it will look even better. Thank you for the suggestions.

It does look pretty good and I think it'll come in handy when you get alot older, and won't have much to do but look at birds all day. LOL!! Right? It is just a thought.

That is okay that you do not like it. I appreciate your comment though. Everyone has their own taste and this is the only one that i could find that will attract small and larger birds. Plus I want to do some landscaping around it or possibly add to it to make it better.

I am glad that you finally got one. I remember when you were looking for one. It looks nice,it just needs a little decorating around it with some flowers or some pretty little stones. I love to watch the birds. I have several birdfeeders in my yard but no birdbaths.

I was just talking to my neighbor and we are going to put the birdbath in the middle of my backyard where it is more visible to the birds plus we are going to put mulch around it as well as some rocks. I was thinking the same thing but since he is a landscaper he could give me a better idea. I love watching the birds too. I have not gotten a birdfeeder yet though that may happen at some point.

I do like the bird bath a lot and just need to do more around it to make it more attractive for the birds plus maybe put in the middle of the yard where it is more visible. My neighbor is going to help with what to put around it including mulch and maybe some rocks.
