My son was riding his kick scooter when he was hit by a car this am. The driver failed to stop and drove off. My son is ok, but this makes me so mad. Police are anxious to speak with the driver of the vehicle, but sadly my son could not give much of a description. I feel so bad as I bought him the scooter and told him not to ride it on the road.

It's nice to hear that your son is ok. There are lots of drivers now that doesn't even care to stop if they hit someone on the road. You really can't tell what would happen. Even if you had not bought him a scooter if it was really meant to be, it would happen.

Someone was looking out for your son! I'm so sorry this happened, but I am so glad that he is ok. Please don'r beat yourself up over it. He needs to follow your rules and wear a helmet.

i am so sorry to hear that... it is so irresponsible of the driver just to drive off like that after hitting a boy... i am glad that nothing happens to your son... i hope the police can catch the driver soon...

I am very relieved to know he is ok. It is scary when things happen like that. It is really a shame when someone just left your son there like that after they hit him! That is what makes me mad! I remember I was driving down the road one day and this kid came flying out of a side street on his bike and he hit my car, broke my windshield, dented the side panel of my car, flew over the car and landed on his back behind us. I was so frightened, but my first thought was is he ok? I went to him, checked on him, my mother stayed with him while I rant to the neighbors house and called 911. I would never leave the scene of an accident like that especially if there are children involved! Hon, I know you feel bad, but you did what every parent does. We tell them and then we trust them to do what we tell them to do. I just hope that he now realizes the importance of listening to you now. Ultimately I am just glad that he is ok!

No problem! I am a mother too and I know how you must feel. My daughter was never hit by a vehicle, but she has been in accidents that scared the bejeezus out of me! I think that anyone who could leave the scene of an accident knowing there are possible injuries is a very calloused person.

I am so sorry for what happened to your son. I also went through the same thing last year, my son was hit by a car while standing at the school bus stop, which is right in front of where we live. The car in the inccident was speeding while trying to leave an intersection! My son was standing at the bus stoo...not on the road. In fact, he was on the grass when the car sped out of control and hit him. My son was okay, he had broken his leg and fractured hid skull, but has been doing fine since. I also felt guilty about sending him to the bus stop alone, but then I realize that there is nothing that I could have done at that moment, but I can try my hardest to always be here for him now.

That is so irresponsible of the driver involved, yeah your child probably shouldnt have been on the street but that isnt the point, how would he feel if it was his kid that someone else had hit, or even worse what would he have done if he had killed your son? Did he even bother to check and see if your son was ok?

Thank the good Lord above that he is alright! And I sure hope they find the person that hit him. Scary knowing we have people like that driving on our streets... But, I am glad he is okay! :)

Swtrose, I am sorry to hear of your son being hit by a car, that is terrible!I'm glad he's alright. How scary for you & him.I'm not suprised he couldn't describe the car or driver,he's just a kid, that's normal.Did the driver get out & see if he was okay? How come the driver wasn't sticking around for when the police came? That is definitely hit & run and charges should be pressed. How irresponsible of the driver!I would be very angry too.

They didn't even stop. My son got up and walked to a house near by where the person he delivers papers to drove him home. We called the police when he got here.

I am glad to hear your son is ok. Most drivers that hit and run do so because they either have no license or insurance on the vehicle and I hope somehow he gets caught. Shame on him!

I'm glad your son is okey and i really hope the driver gets caught. It's very rude of him and it's a crime to drive on after an accident. You shouldn't feel bad it's not your fault nor is it your son's fault. There are always stupid selfish drivers on the road.

OMG Rose I am so sorry. That's terrible. People can be such scum sometimes :( There are lots of people that go over 45 on our street even though there are a ton of little kids around and the speed limit is like 15. Is he hurt at all? I would be terrified to ride again if I were in his place, poor kid.

I hope your son is ok, ie, no bruises, trauma, shock or anything. Tell him to be extra careful when riding his scooter. It certainly gives one the sense of freedom.

I am sorry your son was hit by a car. I am truelly sorry that the coward person who hit your drove off. You did what you could do as a parnet. But what you need to remember is to have your son wear a helment and pads. Even if he is just riding his bike or scooter in the driveway. With all the crazy drivers on our roads. Yiou can never be to careful.

Hugs to you hun! This is not your fault at all, the idiot that hit him is completely and totally to blame. It just blows my mind that someone could run over a child and not even stop to make sure he was ok. I hope the person that did this becomes so over-whelmed with guilt and nightmares that they don't have a moments peace. I am happy to know your son is ok. Give him a big squeeze (which I am sure you already have), and hope he has learned a valuable leason from this.

Unfortunately, when kids get scooters and skateboards the temptation to ride them in the street is just too great. I'm sorry your son was hit, but at least he is okay. You probably will never knew who hit and ran, but he is criminally responsible if he is ever caught.

Yes he is ok and no the car did not stop. My son was on his way to cut lawns. A man he delivers papers for was nice enough to drive him home. My son has some scrapes and bruises and was pretty shaken up, but he is ok.

gosh, thats not a nice thing to do, hit and run! people like that dont deserve justice when they are caught since they themselves dont respect the importance of the lives of the people they almost killed or killed. good thing your son is ok. too bad the driver wasnt caught. it would be a life lesson for your son also to not try to drive the scooter on the road again.

He says, he does not to ride the scooter again, but this could have easily happened if he were riding his bike.
