What's the difference? Is premium better for your car?

I use just regular unleaded gas for my car. Cheaper and also my car doesn't call for premium gasoline anyways. I know there are some makes and models of cars that require only premium unleaded so that they perform as they should. I honestly don't really know the difference between the two, unless it is octane content. That is the only thing that I can think of that makes them different. :)

I used to put the regular 93 octane level unleaded but when I reread the manual, it says 95 octane unleaded. So I have to switch to premium and it's a bit expensive.:(

I can barely affort regular unleaded these days. I'd hate to think that I *had* to buy premium at these prices we are facing these days. Some say it lasts longer but I don't really think so. It does have a higher octane and is recommended for some engines.
