Credit card - How Many Credit Card do you have?

I have six credit cards, however, i just need to use one or two of them for my monthly expenses like grocery shopping and fuel. The rest, I keep in a safe place. I never understand why would I need so much of credit cards. If you have fren or family working as credit card promoter, they will have hundreds or thousands of reason telling you why u should use their credit card...and that's the reason why i got my extra 4 cards. I read from some articles, they are people who don't have extra cash or capital, they will use their credit card to buy stuff online or buy from foreign country, and then sell it to their fren or family to get some extra earning. How many credit card do you have? Do you have a special usage of credit card besides daily expenses?

I have had 1 visa credit card but unfortunately it is now cancelled. I used to use it only for special occasions like I need to buy gifts for Christmas or I have a birthday party to attend. Sometimes I also use it to buy make-ups and other personal stuffs only but it's not really for shopping since I only use my allowance to pay for my credit card bill.

Good strategy you have. I am keeping my extra for emergency, but i think i am going to discard them when i am free as they are just innecessity for me.

I cant get any because i have a bad credit rating for some reason or another, when i was younger i messed things up for myself and am just getting it back together. Once i get things sorted out i will use them but only for exceptional circumstances when i really need food or gas but i will not use it just to buy a tv or something.

Ironically, all my frens or family like to use credit card to buy expensive goods like TV, insurance, etc, but not to buy food or gas, because they can't earn bonus by buying food and filling gas.

If there ever really was a devil's playground, then it is a shopping mall for a person with credit cards. I only carry one card with me at all times and it's only for emergencies. All other credit cards are kept at home and my general rule is, if I can't pay for it in cash, then I can't buy it (unless it's a necessity).

money - money money money..money! cant seem to get enuff of it!
i have 3 visa's and 1 mastercard. i rarely use the mastercard, so i think i better terminate that haha. out of my 3 visa's, i use 2 alternately, like for this particular month i'll use my HSBC, and next month i'll use my citibank. the other visa card - i usually use it for my petrol, to keep track of the petrol expenses that i have to pay.

I've got 0 credit cards, no real usage for it as a lot of online payment here can be done through bank transfer directly as well when needed. Also for payment the usage of a debit card is a lot more of a standard.

It is about the opposite here. We do not use bank transfer directly for most of the online shopping website. There is debit card available in our market but it is only accepted in limited choices of shops. Most of the shop accept either cash or credit card. Some of our ATM card can be feature as debit card, but there is additional charges like one buck/withdrawl if we use our ATM card more than 8 times. Such a discourage on using debit card. :(

Same with me. Having six cards are unnecessary to me. I am curious why people has more than 20 credit cards and how they gonna best use them.

I must say you are very good and efficient in financial management. Earning big point in buying expensive airline tickets, *sometimes get free ticket in rewards, and paid off balance every month to avoid interest charged to your account. ;p

Credit card fraud is very in my country until few years back we have implemented chips on credit card. I heard the fraud rate has decreased compared to magnetic tape credit card era.

I hold four credit cards. I like shopping with it and it's quite convenient as you don't have to carry money all the time. I make spending on all four of them ..but of course find it really difficult to keep track of my spending on each one of them.

I have the similar problem. However as I read on financial article, it is actually easier to track your spending by using credit card. I think, the best way is characterize each credit card usage: 1 for grocery shopping 1 for food 1 for gas 1 for online shopping Then i can know each month where most of my money go, if wanna cut down expenses, it is easy to trace also.

I don't have any, and don't want any. I have had them in the past, and I think they are aweful. If you have a $5,000 card that is maxed out, and you pay the minimum payment, it will take 30 years to pay off. The only payment I want for that long is my mortgage payment, and even that I plan on paying off early. Credit card companies want to keep people in debt.

I have two, one for internet shopping (or when I travel) and the other one for my daily expenses/ shopping within the city. I use credit cards instead of cash mainly because they have a point system. Every time you spend, you score points. And with a certain amount of points, you can redeem coupons from supermarket or some gifts and usually they're quite useful and not really hard to get. Therefore, I see it as a bonus of using my credit cards, like I get some gifts in return.

Ya, it is great attraction of credit card by rewarding points, credits, gift or discounts to the card holder. Using these rewarding system wisely, ie cashback, we can save some money :p

I have 8 credit cards, but I only use 3 for major purchases. The rest I keep them in a drawer at home, because I do not want to be tempted in using them unnecessarily. I like to use credit cards because I like to earn points like frequent flyer miles, rewards points, etc. Last month I racked up to $200 worth of amazon gift checks which I used for DVD's, CD's and books. Also 2 months ago I got $250.00 Best Buy gift cards which I used to buy my daughter's 4 IPOD. I pay the cards full within the 25 day-grace period so that I do not have to pay the finance charges. I use the card to buy groceries, gas..but pay them off within grace period like cash and earn points! In doing so, I get the conveninece of using the card and earning points towards cool stuff. it's like hitting 2 birds with one stone! It is also safe to use cards, when you try to exchange or return something, it is easier and some credit cards carry insurance coverage for your purchases like airline tickets and major appliances. A Credit card can be your best friend if you know how to use it right ...it can be your worst enemy if you do not;)

I used to have two credit cards before and have used it wisely, I never had a problem only whenever I reach the maximum limit of both cards that I felt really bad since I always pay it in full at the end of the month. At the moment I don't have one because I don't think I really need one since I do my transactions in cash. It's been five years already , no difference at all. I have debit cards though .As I have observed, for some people ,I know it's essential but for most especially the younger ones they use it as a status symbol, the more credit cards the better for them , the act of signing a voucher gives them a high but in the end they are up to the neck in debts and messed up finances. Credit cards used sparingly and wisely is a good financial instrument but indiscriminate usage will give you a big head ache.
