Hello cherriemae, I have my discussion stolen a few times. Yes, it does irritate me because I have come up with the discussion first and those people conveniently copy it and treated as their own. But come to think of it, it is pointless to get mad because after all our discussions has already been credited to us. I did not report them or confront them. I moved on to make a new discussion instead. I dont want to get myself angry for something that is like this. It is uncontrollable.

I found atleast one or two mylot members complain about discussions being copied by others in every week. They feel a lot about this matter.I too think its not fair to copy someones effort like this just for earning few cents.
As she is in your friends list and also a new member give a chance to change herself not to do like this hereafter. This is what i will do if this happens with me.Its just my opinion.
Still i have not checked whether any of my topics are copied or not.

As far as I know, this has happened to me only one time. She was on my friends list and after I saw what she had done, I deleted her as my friend. I don't know if she had copied it word for word, but I know that I had used the same title at an earlier time and that she had gotten more responses than me and that was all I needed to know to realize she could not be my friend

Sometimes you just wanna scream...thinking that this might help..I've done it for you...LOL
It is annoying when this happens...I personally, would probably give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe send them a message...regarding the technique for searching for a discussion that is currently running....maybe they just do not understand how to do this yet....I am still fairly new, as well...and there are things I learn all the time.
Just my thoughts....

Vonn, once you reach 500 posts you will be able to upload photos to your responses...until then you can only upload them when you begin a new discussion...
There will be an icon at the left bottom of the response box where you have a choice to add an image at that time...
Hope that this helps...

yes people have taken my discussions before. I don't really care at all. There is enough people around that we both can have different responses.

Like how I was alerted to http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1092472.aspx just a while back by dear patgalca. This pathetic dvaryani guy ripped my latest discussion. I am almost willing to bet his discussions are mostly stolen.

I don't just know how some feel stealling other people's discussions. But I do believe in one thing-If one doesn't decide for him/herself- he/she will definitely depend on other people's decision. Don't worry friend it is a normal thing we should always expect. Thanks and have a nice day.

You would not be wrong to casually mention to her that the one in question was originally yours. I think they have some kind of rule against that. If she continues then you should consider dropping her from your friends list.

hang her cherriemae! hang her! in the middle of the site! the crime will not stop untill you do this! just do it! lol! No, seriously I think this is not a mature and genuine attitude of her. she should respects the rules as well as general ethical procedures. I hope she sees this and gets herself stopped. otherwise hang her! lol! nice discussion there!

i don't remwmber having my discussion stolen, but came across many posts complaining of the same. but, i feel, this is against mylot rules and this should not be entertained atall. is she you friend? if yes, just PM her asking all about it. another thing, did she steal the post verbatim or just took the idea. borrowing idea is acceptable since many of us could strike upon the same thoughts at the same moment but if it is verbatim, questio her. this not done. Lest, PM yo mylot, all about it.
i know, you are hesitant to reveal the screen name. i know, you want to give benefit of doubt, even i would have, more so since she is a newbie (possibly she doesnt know the rule. but if you would, we can report against her.
good luck.

i hate that kind of man, he stole discussion without any notice, it is like what, intellectual property was stolen, right, and i think there many mylotters do the same things, they don't think with their mind, just for a few cents, they stole other people's topics. the second reason maybe they are poor in english and they don't know how to write so they stole

You should address this situation now, not in a few days. Confront the newbie, as they may not be aware that this is not tolerated here.

i think you should ask her. Is never a good to stole. Remember that. Atleast she should have to create her own topic to earn points and not by stealing someones discussion.

If the subject of the discussion is the same, then that would be allowed, but if my entire discussion has been copied word for word, then it is against the rules.
I have never really looked to see if anyone has stolen my discussion, but if they had, I would message my friend and tell him/her that it is against the rules and can get him/her thrown out of the site. If I received an apology, then I guess I would just let it go - but somebody else may still report it.
If my message to my friend was ignored, then I would report it, because it would be obvious my friend knew exactly what he/she was doing in copying my discussion.
I would confront that member straight away, because if he/she has not read the rules properly, she might do it again and get thrown off the site.

Hmmm, I never knew this could happen in mylot. And I can't imagine how it can be done. I guess you have to report it to the administration though.
