Help...please. When I go to the store to try and choose a product for styling my hair, I get so overwhelmed! I have a short hairstyle, my hair is not really fine, but it needs lift at the roots. I've tried blowdrying, and using mousse, hairspray. But by the time I use a brush or pick to try to style it, the lift it gone. Any advice or hair tricks or favorite products that you have used and know work, I will appreciate so much.

I found this website awhile ago, and it's got videos on how to style your hair. It's from Garnier, which I've been using. My daughter uses Garnier on her short hair, and she says it works well. My hair is long, and I use it, and it helps keep my hair from being frizzy and hard to comb. Here's the link: http://fructis.garnier.ca/en/index.asp

I have very fine hair and the only thing that works for me is a body wave or a very light perm. It makes all the difference to my hair.

My hair is flat also- First try getting it layered- this usually adds lift- I always blow dry my hair upside down and use hair spray upside down- this gives it some body- I think the best thing that works for me is Fructuis gum—its like putty- It’s kind of gross- but it keeps my hair not flat- Only works for short hair styles- When my hair grows out- I use mouse and blow dry it upside down and hairspray it then too. Good luck!

I used to have really short hair and I used products that contained bee's wax, and any other wax product. You can also get those glue products they work very well, my brothers use them on they're like eight inch long mohawks. I hope that you can find something, just look around you'll get a good one for you hair.

Hmm, im not too sure about hair theories... But my own theory is that... If u cannot go against it, go along it... I meant to say.. If u cannot style it like anything else, den how about not styling it? I mean sometimes, its good to have a natural hairstyle too... =)

Pantene makes a shampoo that makes your hair feel thicker. I know it sounds crazy but I used it until the bottle was gone. I didn't think it make that much different until I went to another shampoo. Then I could tell the difference. Of course this is coming from a guy so you might get better information from women who style their hair more than I do.

I am not sure what you can use to lift at the roots. But I tend to use a spray on gel called Fructis Style by garnier. They have all different products in their line. This one I use is a spray gel. I have notice that is what works best for my 6 yr old daughters hair. She has a short hair style as well. I will be reading this thread later to see if I can pick up any tips. Good luck!!

I use spritz. It's in a spray bottle and made by Suave. It's about a dollar a bottle. I spray it on my hair when it's still wet and style it the way I want. Then I go find something else to do or finish getting ready. By then my bangs and sides are dry enough that I brush through my hair and it's styled the way I want with the lift I want. Works great! If the rest of my hair is still wet (I have long hair) then I blow dry the rest of it. I'm lucky that I have some natural body to my hair, so that makes it easier to style too.

For years I have used nothing but professional shampoo and conditioner. My hair usually looks pretty good but I have the most awful hair you have ever seen. I absolutely could never go without having a perm or I'd look a fright. The one thing I can tell you is I think there is better shampoo than others. If possible stick to the beauty shop products and it is important to alternate your shampoo every now and again. I used Redkin for years and I still do but the hairdresser told me I should change brands every now and again and I found out that did make a difference. I use Redkin, AG and Paul Mitchell. I live in Canada so I don't know what you have there in the US. Good luck and I hope this helps some. Have a Good Week.

I have short hairs as you see in my profile picture taken 3 months back. Now i have permed my hair and it has added to my volume of hair and now looks good for my face. I also use a hair gel so that it stays in place.

I'll tell you what I do and maybe that combination will help you. I have very very fine and thin hair. When I wash my hair, I do not use creme rinse. I put the mousse on while my hair is wet and then blow it dry. As I blow it dry, I use a roll brush, or my pick, depending on the look I want to lift my hair. Most of the time though I use a curling iron after it's dry, when I've styled it how I want I use hairspray. I use Advance Expressions hairstyle products purchased through a networking business not sold at the stores. Usually, the style will hold for a couple of days. I personally think, for me anyway, the trick is not using creme rinse and I wouldn't think you'd need it with short hair anyway. Good luck.

I once bought some real expensive products from the beauty shop that I thought would really help in styling my hair. I found they worked no better then the less expensive ones. Have you tried bending over and blow drying your hair backwards? That helps mine to have more body.

When you blow it dry or style it with a blow dryer, bend forward, bending your head even more so. Try that. It works for me.
