If you can't find a house to accomodate it, you can probably find a public park where you can set up chairs and a few gazeebos. Don't worry about making it to lavish, let the beauty of nature be your backdrop. Its good that you have the sense not to put yourself into major debt from the getgo of your marrige. Many couples strugle & fail because of finances so why handicap your relationship to start with.

We did ours at a church and did all the work our selves. We enlisted family to serve cake and what not and kept everything simple right down to the dress I wore. I had a hard time spending that much money on one day when we were trying to start a life together. I compared prices for everything! Every penny counts in my book.

Plan everything. You might be in a hurry but you have to plan everything. Have a small number of guests. Find a place for the reception that is cheaper. If it's possible to hold it at home then the better! At least you can have your relatives or friends do the trick to transform the place into a nice wedding reception area. If you can, make ur own invitation cards. There are a lot simple but elegant designs. I'm sure there are plenty of simple designs that you'll find in the Internet. And you might want to personalize your souvenirs as well.

thanks, i am not having souvenirs because you spend so much time preparing them and people never keep them...i mean I have been to so many weddings and the only souvenirs I have were form my sisters' weddings!!! i think it's important to make beutiful invitations for family as the will keep them for memories but not for everyone else, just standard simple ones should do. thanks for the tips though

You can save on booking a wedding location by having the wedding at your house, a friends house, or a park. Keep it casual with the food, my favorite weddings have had barbeque! Don't buy an expensive wedding dress, it's only worn for one day. I wore a bridesmaids dress that was meant to be dyed, I just kept it white. Get help from your family, the women in most families have fun planning weddings! For photography, give everyone a disposable camera or have a few people that you know with some nice digital cameras take pictures. My mother took my wedding pictures, I downloaded them online and made my own prints. Also, make your own weddding invitations. Many craft stores have kits to make your own. Good luck!

I was ocnsidering the barbeque option but I haven't been to a wedding with one so wasn't sure, thanks for the reassurance though, it is a wonderful idea, what with summer on the way! thanks for sharing!

ONe way to keep the cost down is to get your decorations at a Discount Party supply store. another thing is to make your wedding invations. My grandmother made mine for under 200 dollars just by using her home computer. Also if you are having a small simple wedding buy foods in bulk that can be finger foods. The most we paid was for out cake which was about 300 dollars.

I got married for less than £900, firstly we had a buffet rather than a sit down meal, my wifes gran made the cake (decorated with hand made iceing flowers -wow!) and my brother did the photographs. Aslong as you enjoy the day thats whats important, not how much it cost.
Enjoy your day and good luck for the future :)
