When you feel bored and tired with your job? When the enthusiasm you used to have in doing your work had gone? When it's getting harder and harder every morning to wake up and prepare yourself for your work? What could be the real good and valid reason to quit and leave your job? What do you think?

i taught at college for 10 years. i felt it was time for me to go when things seemed not to be doing any good for me. everything became routinary, monotonous and something should be done quickly or else my mind's gonna blew up. i quit my job simply because i lost my interest and enthusiasm on it. quitting my job that time was a perfect timing when my sister married a foreigner. through them and their support i was able to work abroad. i enjoyed my new assignment working in a new environment. enthusiasm was revived.

It is really a good timing indeed. One thing that's holding us also to our work is our fear of losing and not getting another job. Here in our country it's really hard to find a job.

Very good reasoning to quit your job is unhappiness and being under paid. I usually interpret being bored and tired of your job as the first signs that you really don't enjoy what you do. This job isn't your definite calling in choice for careers. The enthusiasm you feel when you first start a job is often very superficial excitement that you got through the hiring process. And that phenomenon only lasts for so long. Not have the desire to go to work is very common, even for those who kind of like their job. That could be coming from wanting to make money without working (e.g. entrepruenership (you gotta work but when YOU want to :) A.K.A. living the life. But overall, quiting your job lies within an inner feeling that only you can truly determine as reasonable and relevant.

You have definitely explain it very well, thekenj. Unhappiness in their work together with being underpaid is the usual reason why people change their job. Thanks for the reply.

Just tell your boss that better job opportunity came along and you can't afford to decline it. The job opportunity that was offered to you is somewhat related to your field of interest and you believe that it will greatly help you not just financially but it will also somehow help you gain personal development.

Yeah that will be easy to say but it will be much better if it is true.

A long break might be useful if you wanna stay in the current job. Otherwise, it's time to quit the job because it is so monotonous doing things that you are getting tired of.

You have a point there. Maybe I need a vacation to think and evaluate everything. Thanks for your advice.

One of the metrics that a company should be looking into is employee satisfaction. it is a strategic measure of how well the company is performing. it includes a lot of things but in essence - how happy are the people within the company? In a personal level, not being happy with the job is one valid reason to leave the company. but make sure you communicate with your boss. there are reasons why you would like to quit - job to easy, job too difficult, management, etc. things that a company should know. who knows, they might be able to help you with the reason why you wanted to leave and you will be productive again or will be motivated to work again. plus, there might be people who are experiencing the same issue as yours but not so much into telling everyone about it. be proactive and i am sure a company will always see your value.
