24 hours in a day is not enough

Do you think that 24 hours in a day just passes you by and you still have tons to do both at work and at home, etc? I have heard this over and over again, we live in a fastpaced era, everything has to be done in rush, rush, rush. We live in a society where more and more people work longer hours, some working through the nights. No longer a 40-hour work week is enough, you put in at least extra 10 if not 20 hours minimum to get work done. More people no longer sit down and enjoy a good meal and conversation. We love to go to drive thrus or buy take-outs instead of cooking at home. We do not even have time to eat our lunches at work, we buy food and eat while at our desks, some even eat their dinner while driving home. We are lucky if we get 5 hours sleep in a day. I think we are living in a society that thinks a lot about money for why else would we do this rat race over and over again if not for it?
So I ask--how is your typical day? Is 24 hours enough for you? If you have a choice to change it, would you make a day 30 hours instead? I think 24 is not enough, and would love to have 30 hours instead. I can certainly use that extra 6 hours, plus I would not grow old as fast ;)

Well for me 24hrs are enough the only thing is to utilise it properly. Whenever I have this kind of feeling then I cut off one hour of sleep and complete the pending work.Well the day my internet is not there then even 24 hrs look longer, so many hours go by in internet and TV.

I agree to you that 24 hours in a day is not enough. However we have to face reality that there is only 24 hours a day. We cannot change it, can we? So I have to learn how to deal with it and arrange my daily routine in a more efficient and better way. This is the life. LOL

Set your priorities and manage your time. The 24 hrs in a day is just enough: 8 hrs for work, 8 hrs for sleep, and 8 hrs for other tasks.

I agree it does help for the most part. But, even with proper time management, and setting priorities isn't enough for me nowadays. It used to. I am just glad I still find time to do mylot, cuz I happen to be on conference calls and I multi-task, I am using my brains to solve the problems and my fingers to type :). Part of my job as IT manager is getting called for escalated problems. I cannot really plan on when problems arise and they call me anytime of the day even in the middle of the night. Getting the job done is not the problem, but having enough time in a day so to be able to get some sleep even after a long busy day is my biggest challenge--- for there are things that I cannot control like problems arsing at work. I can't blame anyone I guess...I chose this work and love every minute of it...I just need to find time to get some R&R I guess :)

Twenty-four hours will never be enough for me until I learn to prioritize. I usually accomplish everything that I need to in a day, but I do it in spurts, so by the end of the day, there is not much time for anything but falling into bed.
If a day was 40 hours, I would still end up in the same bind. I guess, becasue I get restless and go and do things that are not needed and put off work until the last minute. Then I am running around like a chicken with his head cut off, trying to reach deadlines and get to bed at a decent hour. The other day, I managed to get 2 hours of sleep, before I had to get up running again.

Deadlines---that I can relate to. I think this happens to the workaholics like me a lot...the more I work, more and more work comes ;)Just when you think you are done with one pile o work and meeting deadline, here comes another one. No breather! I think the management see it and test how much they can srpead me out...and right now my team and I are spread out too thin.
Hopefully you can get some more sleep tonight.

Hello favefive
I think 24 hours is more than enough, we can do a lot of thing in 24 hours if we can managed our activity.
I think if people can get 30 hours they will said not enough again.
God bless you
