as early as 4 years old i've always looked up to my father who devotes his free time teaching adults in our community for free.. adults who have never have the chance to go to school during their younger years...i've often wondered if what he has taught those people have ever any relevance at all but i believe he has found fulfilment in what he has done... seeing those adults struggle with the writing instruments just to master the alphabet, the numbers, and finally seeing them write their own names...then gradually, hearing them reading aloud... those memories have been my guiding inspirations to work my way to becoming a teacher...teachers are that important because they have been the instruments in molding the minds of our youth..

i think you must be proud of your father. those who try to help others but demand nothing are really great. i always try to be that kind of person but i think i still have a long way to go.

You should be proud of your father. Only few people have the heart to help those kind of people. I'm sure your father feels extra good knowing he can help people on his own way. And to you, follow your dream. Goodluck to u.

Hi marice0929. I saw that this is your first post that's why I responded to it plus the fact also that I like your content. (actually, I started some discussions but I only got a response in one discussion, the others zero.) Anyways, YOUR FATHER should be lauded for being a role model in the community. Yes, I am also a teacher but a volunteer Religion Teacher. I teach Catechism/Christian Living from nursery to grade 6 pupils and I found it very touching whenever one of my pupils approach me in the street and say, "Ma'am I learned a lot from you." or when someone approach me to ask for counselling. I feel sad these days coz I have a friend-teacher who had a kidney transplant but not sure whether her body will accept the new kidney coz she's always short of cash to buy medicine. Now, I am looking for ways to ease her burden. God bless.
