No this isn't a post about my kids fighting and crying and being spoiled brats. It's about me crying and being a spoiled brat. I was browsing through new discussions and saw one of mine I didn't remember writing. I knew it was mine cause I recognized my avatar which, in all the months I have been on myLot, has been unique. But there it was on someone else's profile.
Silly, but it really upset, me. Guess it's time to find something new.

Believe me I can understand not being happy with it but when you are just using a picture that can be found anywhere it might happen. It's an image I have on my computer actually as well. It happens to be one I like :) If it was a unique one I could see where you'd be really upset. Where it was one you made yourself or someone made for you type thing.

So maybe the picture isn't as unique as I thought.
OK, I'm feeling better now; I'm off to find a new picture.

Afraid not. It's one I've seen all over the net I'm afraid.

Well I decided to take a look in what I had on the compuer:) and of course that got me into PSP. So I made this. If you like it feel free to use it, if not just ignore. I was going to send it via a PM but you can't add images to that :(

Don't be mad dragonstar13. You can still find a unique avatar. Trust me!
I suggest if you want to have a unique avatar, try to upload your own picture ;).

I'm not mad. I've had a rough week (month actually) and this was just one more blow at my self esteem (see my comments above.)
I actually have been looking through my portfolio and will use one of my own, copyrighted photos as my next avatar.
Thanks for the comments. :-)

Well i have never had that problem with someone stealing my avatar. But i would have a real problem is someone did seeing as how it is my mug shot lol. But to me if you had it first then i would consider myself as being very rude to use the same one there are many out there dont have to take someone elses. And that was unique to you to me it is wrong.

Aw, sorry about that. I've heard of that happening to people and other than to ride your wake I can't see the purpose of ripping off an avatar. I know they say mimicry is a form of flattery, but at the same time, it's a little bit annying, isn't it?

Since it's a generic picture I guess it's ok for someone to do that but from a moral standpoint I don't think it's a very nice thing to do. With all there is to choose from and even be able to make on our own I don't see why anyone would have to take someone else's avatar. I find it hard to believe it's just a fluke since I know I've seen it on mylot quite often.

My opinion isn't going to quite fit your situation and in all reality it might not even be fair. Since apparently your avatar is common (I guess?) I would just chalk it up to "great minds think alike", definitely annoying though but a good excuse to get a new and even more interesting one. BUT if someone stole MY avatar I would be pitching a fit! I would be letting that person know that they had better change their avatar. I'm sure I would sound worse than a 3 year old who dropped her popsicle but oh well! My avatar is extremely special and personal to me and I don't want to change it or have anyone else using it. But I also recognize that that may not be a fair reaction since I am the one that put it out there to potentially get used by someone else.

Sorry that this happened to you. I know that most people pick their avatars with great care, to reflect a specific part of their personality. We know there are people who don't think twice about stealing others stuff, whether it is avatars or actual posts, lots of that going on here on MyLot.

You seem to be an artistic and unique individual, who shouldn't be copied. some people who are new here don't understand that noone wants their stuff, especially avatars stolen or hijacked. You desere to have your own stuff. Best of luck finding a new avatar that expresses your personality to others.
