LOL - Laugh Out Loud or Laughing Out Loud, is a very popular chat or internet lingo.
When you say LOL... are you really laughing?
In my case, LOL may mean differently depending on the situation...
I say...
LOL - when something is really funny.
LOL - when something is corny.
LOL - when something is nonsense. (it's like saying "Whatever!")
Heehee!
But most of the time I say LOL when I'm really laughing so hard that it came to the point where my tummy aches and all you can say is a three-letter word. HAHAHA! LOL!

Well, that is a good question. Maybe I should put something like GOF (grin on face), because often, when I put lol, it is only a grin I have, not an all out laugh, although sometimes I do get a comment or reply that does make me laugh out loud!

you say lol for all those things you mentioned but it is also to let people know that the words you are saying are not meant to be taking seriously like you are joking around as well.

to be frank, when i write LOL i mean to say that something is real funny and i am kind of giggling or chuckling. i never laugh out loud in the real sense, i never ever do that. i am very silent and not very gregarious and i guess that is blame for it all.
have a nice day.

Lol is normally used as a transition phrase in chat... now if someone is really laughing you can normally tell by the ROFL OR ROFLMFSAO
:d and yes i use them alot!!! I am too happy and laughable not too! I worked in chat for too many years not to notice the pattern that has come about! Wow how we have changed in chat over the years!

I hardly ever use LOL because I know most people aren't really laughing out loud when they use it.. Most of the time when I'm really laughing, i say hahaha.. or hehee, if it's not that funny... :P But this is a really good discussion cuz I see it used alot by people and sometimes I get confused whether they really are laughing or not.. thanks.. =P

I mostly use LOL if I think something is funny or even corny. I'm not always physically laughing when I enter it, though. Sometimes I'll use it just to be sarcastic, not really laughing at all.
It's interesting to see how people use it - good question!

I say LOL when something is funny, or when I have nothing to say in response to someone. Most of the time I say "haha" instead of LOL, as I tend to reserve LOL for people I don't find very interesting. x

I usually say LOL, when i am laughing. Otherwise i just say something else. because LOL to me means, Lots of Laughs. So, i just use it whenever i want to show the person that i am laughing. And sometimes i also use it when i want to change the topic in a discussion, as in Whatever sense.... :P

yea,i usually am laughing.
the emoticons are even better for that, but since we don't have any here,LOL works.
that could be a good thing though.i know people who use way too many of those in net conversation.

I do it all. I usually use LMAO whe it has me ROFL. My favorite which not many know I think is LQ2M. (laughing quietly to myself. Which is where somerthing can be a whatever, or so-so funny, funny but in stitches over it. I think it just depends on what comes to mind when typing back too when I throw in a haahaaa or hee hee .
