Do you eat too much?

I'm not overweight at all, but I often have to control how much I eat. I love basically every types of foods, and I can make such a party with a fork and a knife in my hands. During special occasions, like Christmas for example, I eat so much that sometimes I get sick. If you think it's the case, I don't have any types of eating disorders, I just like it VERY MUCH. :) And I think it's also a cultural matter. People from the American continent usually eat a lot, as in Europe people eat much less, in general. What about you? Do you think you eat much more than your body really needs, or you only have enough to keep living healthly?

I think that there have been times in the past where I have eaten way more than was necessary. I've gotten a lot better about minimizing my portions and how much I eat in general. There are those special occasions, like you mentioned, where I will eat a little more often. I try to maintain a healthy amount of intake nowadays. I actually think you've got a point about the cultural thing as well, although I think that there are other factors as well.

I tend to eat either too much or too little. I have a pretty unhealthy attitude towards food, because of being starved as a child, I tend to think of being able to eat everything I want as a sign of having my own life and being safe. I say too little as well as too much because if I'm really involved with something I'm doing, like writing, playing a game, or whatever, I won't eat at all. I have to be reminded to eat by my loved ones sometimes. I swear if it weren't for my husband I don't know what I would do!

My family bounced me around from one person to another. Sometimes I had nowhere to live, other times I lived with people who abused me. The starving thing was mostly my mother's fault, she would go out to eat with friends but not have any food in the house for me to eat. Yeah, I had some hard times, about 18 years worth, but things are going really well for me the past 8 years. =)

Wow... I'm really sorry to hear that, sweetie. I don't know how you get along with your family nowadays, but seems you found a nice husband, right? I really hope everything keeps going fine to you!

I have some of this sometimes. I "forget" to eat. But only sometimes! :) And what happened to you when you were a child? Seems you've been through some hard times!

I don't eat too much, or so I? I am not underweight but people like to insist I am underweight. :P I think the best is to eat till you are 70% full? So that after time/digestion, you would be just right.

Yes, I was told you're not supposed to eat so much, and leave the table when you're still a little hungry, and in a while you'll be fine. It is true, I tested! :D But I don't really do it all the time, no. I prefer to eat until I can't take no more. Maybe you're not underweight, but you may look skinny so people tell you that. What about taking a little more than 70%? ;)

I don't usually eat too much unless there is some special occasions or festivals. I usually eat the 3 meals and that's it. I don't snack on anything and I guess that's why I am not overweight even though I eat quite a lot during the main course. But when Chinese new year is around, I can't resist the food because it's so delicious and it happens only once a year, so I would definitely eat too much when that time of year arrives.

Interesting. I don't have much contact with people from the Eastern world actually, so I have no idea about what type of food you have during Chinese new year. But one thing I'm pretty sure, I'd LOVE it. ;) It's really difficult for me to find foods that I don't like. Thank you for your response, sweetie!

Actually eating turns me on when I'm down. So I really can't resist the temptation of massive delicacy. I really enjoy the process of eating even if I will suffer a lot afterwards, and that's why I can't loose any weight. Fortunately my weight is within the normal range compared with my height.and today more and more easterns enjoy massive food and suffer obesity. the world is flat!!

If even the easterns are eating too much, who am I to start a diet? Hahaha! :) Seriously, you take care with this good sensation you have when you eat. This "turn on" might become dangerous. Thanks for sharing, sweetie!

Oh, laridbz, you don't want to know how much I eat! Hahaha. I eat too much....more than what my body really needs. Hehehe. Maybe it's because I'm slim and I don't really gain weight that's why I don't watch what I eat. I eat any kind of foods except those that I don't like the taste. Name a food and I eat it. Haha. I also eat a lot of rice. My friends usually kidded me that I eat like a construction worker! Yeah, I am that glutton. Hahaha. Shame on me, eh? Maybe that's just the advantage of being slim and not able to gain too much weight at all...you can eat any thing you want! I'm just 5'3" (Filipinos are not really tall, eh) and yet I am only 100 lbs. It's even underweight for my height! Hehe.

It's good to eat how much you want and don't gain any weight, but watch your health, sweetie! :) Try at least to eat the right things, instead of fast food. Good luck, and thank you for your reply!

Of course I eat too much. For the past 15 years there have been 10 pounds that have been haunting me. I've been trying off and on to get rid of it. If I didn't eat too much, the 10 pounds would have been gone a long time ago. I exercise, jog, bike, etc., but I am still holding on to those 10 pounds. I'm not complaining. I just eat too much (and I enjoy it too).

I enjoy it a lot too, but if I were overweight, I would probably eat much less. I'm way too worried about my body, that's the truth. Not that much about my health though... Hahaha! Sounds horrible, doesn't it?

I'm not exactly overweight, but it wouldn't hurt me to lose a few pounds. I have to admit that I often eat a lot more than I ought to, but it's hard not to when everything taste so good.

I also like about everything. I can be happy with a huge portion of salad or with a piece of lasagna. And yes, I'm not overweight either, but I'd be better with a little less, I think. ;)

My eating size depends a lot on the occasions. If it is a festival or during special occasions, then I would stuff myself with food. Other than that, I would just eat one portion for each meal, that is, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I like to eat and it is showing. My problem is I'm a snacker and eat too many things that are fattening. Now that my cholesterol is high I am having to watch what I eat. So I'm trying to eat healthier and cutting way back on the snacks.
