I am seeing increasing number of people drinking carbonated drinks which are not good for our health. yes they dont have alcohol content in it. But still they are harmful, also children of age 12 are having those...and parents dont mind it!! Do you allow your kids to have drink like pepsi-cococola-Thumsup..? I avoid to have these kinds carbonated drinks..

I don't think it's the carbonation, per say, but rather, the sugar and caffeine content in those drinks. I read that a bottle of Coca-cola contains something like 10 tablespoons of sugar. No wonder kids are getting fat! I don't think the sugar-free sodas are any healthier, and they can still rot teeth. We never keep soda in the house, but occasionally, the kids will purchase a soda at the corner store. I'm happy to say that they mostly opt for water.
And don't be fooled by those "fitness" waters! I purchased a Propel once and was horrified that it contained corn syrup. I drink only plain water. No added vitamins and minerals, or anything else.

hey katrinka..that was such a good response to start the discussion. I think the same, even most purified water sold around have some thing unusual. Plain water, purified by boiling is good by all means.

Thumbs down on soda! It's not good for anyone kids or adults. It was a treat when my kids were younger and as adults they still don't drink it very often.

I have to say, I actually don't really like carbonated drinks. I think I would try to avoid them anyway since I don't think they are very healthy, but I'm sort of glad that I don't like the taste of them, cause that makes it very easy for me not to drink them! lol

i dont think canned fizzy drinks are that good for you as they usually have additives in them but they have some water and fruit versions which i like and they taste good without any sugars or different ingredients

I recently read how soda is bad for women, increases the risk of bone density. As for my kid, he always preferred to drink milk, but occassionally had coke. I always kept Diet soda in the frig for me, and I drink more than I should. I try to drink water more nowadays, but have a hard time being satisfied with no flavor.

I don't drink it at all. I would consider it as luxury poison, because cost much more than water...too much to pay for unhealthy drink...

As I work for a dentist i can tell you that from our point of view ANY carbonated beverage is not good for your teeth. The stuff that makes the fizz is...acidic. And the more you drink the worse it is. Studies have shown that for every drink you take it takes 20 minutes for your saliva to be able to break down the acid in the drink. So if you do drink a lot of carbonated beverages, drink them quickly don't just sip on it here and there and brush or even rinse your mouth afterward with mouthwash if possible.
Personally, we do drink some carbonated beverages every now and then. Between the 3 of us in our house we might go through a 12 pack a week. And for my son who is 10, we try to refrain form giving him any pop with caffeine, he's hyper enough as it is. So we only buy stuff like Rootbeer, generic grape pop, Sprite, etc. But mostly he drinks milk, water, or Capri Sun. We also avoid caffenated drinks just because they are just as addictive as anything else. if you've been a long time drinker of any pop and tried to cut back or quit drinking it you probably know what i'm talking about, the moodiness, the headaches, both symptoms of withdrawal. it's worth a thought.
