I seen 3 different stories on the news today that made me want to throw up. The first one was about an elderly lady who found a dead from carcase on the bottom of her Folgers coffee bag. The second was a man was cooking dinner for his family. And opened up a can of green beans and found a ground up frog in the can. And the third was a man went to a ice cream shop and brought home some custard. And guess what found the tip of a human finger. Now all of these poor people found nasty stuff in there food. Have any of you ever found gross stuff in your food?

I've never found gross things in my food, but my dad has. He went to a certain pizza place (it's a national chain restaurant that is inside another large chain store) and ordered a medium pizza to take home. When he got home and opened up the box, he found a Band-Aid mixed in under the pepperoni and cheese.
Disgusted, he immediately called to complain and was told to bring it back in. He brought the pizza back in, showed it to the manager, and got his money back. Then they gave him a coupon for a free medium pizza on his next visit. Needless to say, he never used it. *ROFL*

Having worked at a certain national chain pizza place that is inside another large chain store I can completely understand how something like that could happen, although it still shouldn't have. At the time I was there it was "THEIR" philosophy that gloves gave the appearance of uncleanliness so we were encouraged not to use them (the exception being if we had an open wound, which is why your dad's incident shouldn't have happened anyway). I know that sounds completely backwards but the idea was that if the customers saw us wearing gloves all the time, they might assume that we weren't changing gloves and causing cross contamination...as in money to food, coughing/sneezing on gloves then touching food, etc.
So instead we had a strict hand washing policy with the main sink in plain view of the register, prep area, and seating area. I won't go into all the details of how that worked but it would explain a band aid in the pizza since there was obviously no glove on the hand it came off of....although like I said, in that situation "THEY" allowed gloves to be worn.

Luckily I've never NOTICED anything gross in my food!
The closest I've ever come was when my ex-hubby opened a brand new bag of dry dog food and found a live mouse inside. There were no tears or holes in the bag so the mouse must have gotten in before it was sealed where the dog food was made and somehow survived being shipped.

I've actually found feathers inside a bag of alfalfa cubes that I opened up for my horses. According to my uncle, that's a fairly common occurence. I guess what happens is the birds get processed with the cubes. Lucky for me I didn't actually see the bird's carcass, just a few of his feathers. Eew.

Oh my goodness, how gross, that is just nasty, and yes, I have plenty of times... One time, my mom has made some vegetable soup, homemade style, and one of the ingredients had A huge winged bug in it, and we took it up to the store, and it was just nasty, wow, wasn't I lucky for i to be in my bowl of soup. Eek!

I have never found anything like that, but I am sure that if ever I do, then I will also throw up. I have had instances when people start talking gross stuff when I am having food and I almost end up throwing up. So, if I get to see something like that, I will definitely throw up.

I have never found anything nasty in my food other then a hair. But that is truely discusting. and it is something to think about how all of these things have gotten there in the first place and dont you think someone might have noticed something espaecially if they had a finger tip missing. This makes me want to check and double check everything i buy and open to make to eat.

Hair in the food is gross. And I think I heard them say that the animals got into the food in a packing plant in New Orleans after the hurricane.

I can say that i have never found anything gross in my food. Thanks to god. If i did i most likly would faint and then seu the company that i got it from. This is sick and now i'm really scared to drink my coffie but i think that it would be safe considering that i bought my folders coffie about 2 months ago or more. I had one of those buy one get one free cupons and i am the only coffie drinking in the house. I drink it first thing in the morning and that's it. So it lasts for months here if my 2 year old don't dump it all of the floor. She's known for stuff like that. I do feel bad for these three people that they had to find such things in their food.

I've found the occasional fly in my salad, if that's what you mean.
I really think the more bizarre tales that you've read are instances of someone trying to get money from a company, such as the old "finger in the chili" thing at Wendy's.
If you really want to know, lots of what we digest and even breath each day is made up of minute particles of all sorts of things! It's kind of gross, as you put it! Thank goodness we have a filtration system in our noses. But really gross things always end up in our foods, though we rarely see it.
The worse I ever saw was a common green spider in a head of broccoli - that put me off greens for a while - and the fly in a salad that I ordered at a local restaurant. Needless to say, I don't eat their salads anymore!

Gosh, that is awful. A few more of these stories and I may be able to quit eating so much. Just think about how many things are probably eaten and not even noticed. We probably don't know half the things that are mixed in our food. Yuck, I was hungry but not anymore.

Thankfully I have never found anything gross in my food! I wish I didn't know about the Folgers coffee because after Dunkin Donuts it's my favorite to buy!
