Dear friends do you feel comfortable or at ease when someone close to you ask you to share your personal belongings with him/her such as mobile, pen, pencil, make-up kit, shaving-kit, clothes, footwears, vehicle etc. How do you react in that situation...do you say straight away say 'NO'...or do you agree to share your personal belongings with others...with hesitation....and when something goes wrong after someone else had used your personal belongings.....do you feel..."if I had not offered him/her my personal belongings, it would have been better".
I normally donot feel comfortable, sharing my personal belongings with my near or dear ones.
Share your views. I shall be thankful to you for your inputs.

nope. i am always honest with my friends and to the people i am close to. whenever they buy something of my personal things, i always say "sorry" to them. i want to keep my things personal for myself only. but my friends understand me since i tell them in the most modest way possible.
when it comes to mobile phones if my friends want to try and borrow it, i let them borrow it only when i am infront of them. but they can't borrow my for and bring it anywhere else.

mary, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree, it is better to be honest than feel sorry later.

I don't mind lending out my stuff to some of my friends but there are others that I am not as comfortable about lending to because I know how they are irresponsible with their own stuff and this makes me more nervous about not getting something that I value back again . I do usually lend it anyway but explain that I do want it back but have things returned broken in the past so now I try to come up with another reason why they can't borrow whatever it is they are looking for . I don't want to have to tell someone that they can't borrow something because I don't trust them as I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but after years of having stuff broke or just simply not giving back what was borrowed makes me more leary now and less trusting .

If it's for my own sisters and daughter, I don't mind....since if I say no they would use it anyway....hehehe. As long as they promised to clean and return them neatly after use. For the rest, I 'd say NO even to my close friends....

In the past i really did not feel comfortable with sharing my things with others.
But i had to see why i did feel that way.
and got to a conclusion that things have to change.
I can tell you that in the few past years i do share my belongings with my close friends, and i do feel happy about it.
I like to give and share, and they are doing the same for me.

to be honest, i don't mind people borrowing my personal stuffs as long as they promise to take good care of it... and of course i have to trust the person to be able to borrow him/her my stuffs... but if the thing that he/she wants to borrow is brand new or quite expensive, i might hesitate a bit to lend it even though to my close friend...

I have a couple of very close friends that are like sisters to me, and I don't mind sharing belongings with them. However, there are certain things that I refuse to share with even them...such as my makeup (I simply don't like anyone else using it), my CD collection, or my hair styling items. Those things are items that are just too personal to me to share with anyone.

If it is my sister or best friend then I don't mind at all, its when "other" family members ask I am reluctant to share. There are certain personal things I won't share like deodarant (unless its a spray one), toothbrush, and sometimes lipstick (might be one or two things I missed out on that list LOL). I made the mistake once in lending out my straightening hair iron to a few friends at work and it came back ruined (they wrapped the cord around the iron while it was still hot and it burnt through - $60 down the drain and I only had it for a month!) My fault because I assumed they knew to let it cool down before returning it. I have also lent out a skirt and shirt to a good friend and it came back in not so good condition so now I think twice before lending out anything of mine.

maddysmommy, thanks very much for sharing your thoughts on a very touchy issue. It really feels very bad, when people spoil your stuff and do not feel any regret for that...at that moment you think...."why at all did you gree to give your stuff to them".
+ rated.

i don't feel comfortable in sharing my personal belongings to others.I don't just trust someone that easy, i consider my belongings my personal, all of my personal stuff is me only using. I just share some of them, when my close friends or family really needed it.

I feel hesitation to say the word "no" to my loved ones when they ask to share any of my things. But i just give the required items needed by he/she with hesitation because as you had mentioned when something goes wrong to the items it creates uneasiness. But when i give any valuable items ,i make sure to advise them to keep it safe while using.

Unless the personal belongings are really personal, I do share with my friends. I see nothing wrong with sharing unless I forsee that the sharing is in fact giving.
I do not mind sharing clothes with my family members but not undergarments. If it is mobile or vehicle, why not? There is no reason to reject the request.
It would be most unfortunate if the belongings do go wrong after somebody has used it. Nobody would want it to happen. The probability is probably quite low unless the belonging is near its expiry.

it depends on who is it asking for and what is he asking for. i can lend anything and evething, except my toothbrush, (they would not ask for it, i am sure, LOL...) to my sisters, no issues about it. i can lend my clothes and accessories to my close friends, that hardly happens though. on my part, i cannot borrow from friends and from sisters, it depends on the thing.
have agreat day.

It really depends on who the person is. I am very comfortable sharing anything with my 14 year old daughter. We have complete trust in one another.
I share with my husband, although it is usually only little things, such as a biro, etc.
I am reluctant to share with most other people, as they can not be relied upon to return the item. Or even clean it if necessary.
