Online friends...do you have any?

I have one really good friend that I have never even met in person before.We met through a penpal site and we've been emailing back and forth for over a year now.It seems hard sometimes to really make friends with someone you have never met.....but than again sometimes you just click with another person.We occasionally talk on the phone....but that is very rare since he lives in Australia and we have a huge time difference.
We never made plans on meeting someday....I mean I like the way our friendship is right now and I'm not sure if meeting in person would not change that.
So how about you....do you have anybody you know only from online and how close a friend are they to you.Are you planning on visiting each other at some point?
Do you like having online friends....or do you prefer the ones you can visit and do things with?

It's going to sound strange, but one of my good friends is someone I met off ebay - she's in Florida and I'm in the UK and I brought a couple of designer handbags off her, the emails flowed and when the transaction was done we kept in touch and we send photos etc.. it's strange where you meet people even if it is online - they can make your day just like a 'real' friend!

nothing strange about that.Sometimes the most unlikely sources yield the best results....I guess that's true for making friends as well.
Of course they can make your day and a lot of times cheer you up with just a few simple words....that's the amazing part to me.

I don't have many online friends, maybe 5 or 6. We could meet if we really wanted but things are ok just the way they are. We are far away but not that far away that we couldn't meet but we don't feel it's necessary. We just keep on talking like friends usually do.
Some of them are far away from me so we both know how difficult it would be to meet, so we just chat online.
I like having online friends, they are friends, no matter where they are and it's always good to have friends. I don't really care if they are just online friends or friends I can visit all the time. They are my friends and that's enough for me.
