What type of house do you prefer?

Owning a house is something everyone dream of. If you have the opportunity to own a house, what type of house will it be? Will it be single storey, double storey or even three storey? Will you buy an apartment instead? Do you want to build and design your own house? Do you think it is better to buy a ready made house or buy a used house? If I have the opportunity, I like to build and design my own house.

I already own a house. It was built six years back. I have built the house. It is a double storied house with four bed drooms, four bath rooms, a kitchen and work area, a dining room, a drawing room and a sit out. There is a balcony on the upstairs. Though not a beautifully planned garden there are plenty of ornamental plants in front of the house. There are also seven coconut trees. It is a lovely house for me. Thank you.

It is not a large house, but convenient. We are very comfortable with the house. I wish you all the best and pray the almighty for fulfilling your dream of building your own house. Thank you ellie.

i have a dream house though that belongs to my hubby but it is similar to the one my parents had.i would not like to buy one for myself.I am not even in the designing part nor like to decorate the room.I keep it simple as it is.And i love the simplicity.. Often people say one must not buy a used house but when options are nill one had to adjust!!

there are times when we come across a used house which is perfectly suited to our needs. this is the time when we are in the best of luck. i will surely buy it, if i can afford it. no question right there. yes, i know what you mean. and it is a good decision to take.

I would prefer to have an independent house and not an apartment. I would like to have a garden in the house and I would have two floors. If possible, one should always get his house designed according to his requirements and then get it constructed as per the design. One can also buy an existing house after doing proper evaluation of it.

I would love to design and build my own house. In the past, I would have prefered a two or three story house possibly of modern design. I have always had plans in my head. But last year, my wife and I were able to buy a house, a one story of Spanish/Mediterian design. I fell in love with it. It is all the house we will ever need. The trick will be keeping it! Our mortgage is a fixed rate for three years then after that it becomes an adjustable rate mortgage. Hopefully, we will be able to refinance before the mortgage goes adjustable. Our credit was not the best, but we got it through one of those sub prime lenders. Most of them went out of business. So, wish me luck.

I think I would prefer a house with just one level. I hate stairs, even though I have stairs in my house now. Sometimes it is better to buy a brand new house, but there are really good deals on pre-owned homes as well. I guess it all depends on your wants and needs. I prefer an older home because their construction is better than some of the new homes. My father works in the home building business and he can attest to the face that houses are not made the way they used to be. They try to cut a lot of corners to get more bang for their buck.

i would love to own a house, my very own house. right now, i live with my parents in a 3 storey house, pretty big one. however, my house would be a small comfortable one with a garden and lots of greens. i want it simple and soothing with more original decor like terracotta and bamboo and grass. it should be cosy and i just hope, more than reclining in lavish ppl would feel comfy and peaceful in it. lemme keep my fingers crossed...

I can picture it now. I think a small and cosy house should be ideal. Too big a house means a lot of cleaning and tidying up to do. I am sure you experience this since you are living in a 3 storey house. May your dream come true. Thanks for your response.

I live in a nice double wide mobile home right now. Soon I will be in an apartment for a bit, then after that, not sure. I would like to design and build my own home. I am planning on doing just that. I will build a log home, about 2,000 square feet with probably 2 levels. A log home is unique and suited for a natural setting. And there aren't any two alike. You can create any kind of custom home you want and have it built. After looking at log homes, I can't stand the thought of living in a stick home or convential house.

A mobile home is manufactured in a factory, sort of like using an assembly line. The home I live in is 28 feet wide and 66 feet long. It is actually 2 halves put together. The home can be split into two sections and transported on a flatbed truck to almost any location. It is a nice home and very cheap to buy when compared to other types of homes. There is no basement or second level. Every room has windows and the ouside is covered with vinyl siding. It is easy to upkeep and requires little maintenance.

I live in a detached house. My town is very little and it isn't noisy. Not bad, I'm enough happy to live in my house, but if I had able to choose a house I'd have chosen a house in the country. I love the country, and so if I could, I'd go there to live. Me too if I had the opportunity I'd like to build and design my own house.

I would want a single story because as we get older the steps will be a challenge to us. I don't want it really big because of the same reason, getting older and would be so much more to keep clean. I would want a house way out away from everyone and lots of land around us.

Hi mamacathie, you are very wise indeed. I have never thought about it. Now that you mentioned it, I think I will start to think about my future house and old age. I always think about my children comfort before I decide what house to have. Children will grow and leave us when they are adult. So, if we choose a big house, it will become a big burden for us when we are in our old age.lol. You are so right. Thanks for your response.

If given the choice, I would like to design and build my own house. That way I can determine which room goes where, how many rooms that I need, how many floors that I need, and many more things to make the house as personal as I could.

I prefer the type of home that I can afford, lol. I prefer to have any roof over my head as long as its not leaky or gone, lol. However if I could choose, i'd say house. 3 bedrooms/3 baths. And a big back yard.

If you are considering buying a house, one of the first decisions you need to make is whether buying a house instead of renting one is the right direction for you. Since owning a home is the "American Dream", many people simply assume that it's always to their advantage to buy a home, and for most, it is. Take a moment to review the following lists to see how your situation fits in. Renting More fixed costs for the term of the lease Not gaining equity, but not losing it either When the lease is up, you can just move There is generally less work in maintaining a home or apartment Smaller amount of "up-front" cash No matter what happens with the value of the home, you will never gain equity Limited - or no - ability to personalize your living quarters No tax advantage to renting. Your landlord gets any and all tax breaks that are available Buying Variable costs Equity may go up, down, or stay stagnant If you want to move, home generally must be sold Work needs to be done by you - or paid for by you Generally a larger initial investment - the downpayment Over time, the mortgage balance decreases and equity builds, even if the value of the home does not increase The ability to remodel and redecorate the home to match your needs and desires There can be tax advantages attached to home ownership. Consult competant legal and/or accounting advice for details for your situation

That is a very valuable information you got. Personally, I do not favor renting a house. I prefer to own a house because at the end of the day, the house will be mine unlike renting where you pay but never really own it. Thanks for your input.

i've always dreamed of owning a house. i want a 2-storey house with a front and back yard. i want my yard to have lots of green in it. a garden full of flowers, fruit bearing trees and shrubs. the inside of the house should be according to my specifications so i prefer to build and design my own house rather than buy a readily made one.
