who really is sideshow bob?

I didn't watch the episode where bart did something to sideshow bob. What really happened? Why did he threaten to kill bart?

Everything he tries to do Bart Foils his plans, they are arch enemies every time he gets out of jail Bart Just gets him sent straight back. I like the episode where sideshow Bobs brother turns up.

Sideshow Bob framed Krusty for a robbery and Bart exposed Bob and had him sent to jail.

It started with framing Krusty the Clown. Then it continued. I think the last time the 2 interacted, at least that I can recall was when The Simpsons were in Italy. By that time, Sideshow Bob has a wife and son. I'm wondering if he did retire from going after Bart or will it continue. Stay tuned.
