I am currently reading this book. I have only read 4 pages of the book. I had never really heard of it before.I started to ask around and its supposedly really good. I wantr to know if anyone had read it if they can tell me if it is worth my time. Is is as good as people say that it is? What are the things I should look forward to?

Yes, this book is DEFINITELY worth reading! It took me forever to actually get around to reading it (my copies kept vanishing), but once I finally sat down and read it, I was hooked.
I have heard from another person who read it that if you live in an older house, it might freak you out a bit. It does definitely have some spooky potential.
Also, I have to recommend that if you don't already have it, pick up the Poe album "Haunted." Mark Danielwski (sp?) and Poe are brother and sister, and there are a lot of links between their two works.

I have to be up front and say that I haven't read "House of Leaves" however now that you mention it I am looking forward to getting this book from the library along with some other books for summer reading. Thanks for your topic and I just think if others say it's supposed to be a good book it won't hurt to finish it so you can give your opinion on it should the subject ever come up in conversation. Then you'll be able to suggest reading it if you liked it. A college professor I had once said reading helps us to increase our vocabulary so no matter what the book I think it's worth our time. You don't have to if you don't want to, I just wanted to make a suggestion. Good luck.

No I have never read it; I've actually never heard of it. But the title sounds really interesting to me. Could you please tell me what it is about from the back cover or something? Just so I can see if it is something that is of interest to me. Or could you give me the authors name so I could look it up online? Thanks!

Oh yeah, the author is Mark Z. Danielewski. He also wrote The HUndered Year Sword as well as ONly Revolutions. I can't comment on the Hundered Year Sword, but Only Revolutions is quite good, though it doesn't live up to House of Leaves.

this book is absolutely fantastic, everything from the creation of the characters, to the total sense of unease throughout. While its not really a horror there are a few parts that engulf the reader. I don't think I have read a book that matched this books ambition. It takes a while to get used to the footnotes and having random words across the page, but all in all, the best book I have ever read.
