When you want to present your ideas, do you prefer presentations or in writing?

At work, there would be times when our boss or supervisor would want us to present our ideas or make a report of something. Do you prefer to speak it out by making a presentation and then presenting it to them or would you rather just write it all down and make a comprehensive report?
For me, i would prefer to put it in writing because im not really good in doing presentations. Plus, i really dont have the confidence to present something especially to a group of people.

I myself would rather write it down and then present to my boss. But right now I dont have a boss. I am working on my own. But I feel better writing it down, looking it over, and present it to my boss.

I would also prefer to do like you. That is to present it in writing.. I do not seem to have the confidence to present what I have written or prepared by myself in front of many.
I know this is actually wrong to do because someone might take advantage of you. You'll lose the points to someone who might improvise according to his taste. What do you say?
