On a recent broadcast of my favorite radio show, the host was interviewing a man that claimed technologies have been developed that could change our dependence on oil and that in some cases even "free" energy could be obtained. He went on to say that as far back as Nikola Tesla's time free energy was being developed and that every new invention or patent request for this technology since then has been suppressed. On June 1 and 2 his documentary "Amazing Inventions" will profile three new energy inventors on the science channel. Do you believe we have these technologies and that they are being suppressed?

There is no way that the higher ups are going to let this happen. There are too many hands in pockets. Think about the money that the oil companies would lose. So I believe that the patents have been suppressed because than the oil companies and who ever else they have in their pocket would lose money.

I've believed that for a long time. I believe that there are cheap and renewable sources of energy that have not been developed and mass marketed because somebody won't make money from that. Tesla was way ahead of his time, and his inventions and research may well be what we can use to reduce our reliance on oil. Thanks for posting this discussion. This is one show I don't want to miss.

I think we can be a huge amount more efficient than we currently are, and that the technology existst to prevent things like tyres from wearing out so fast, cars rusting etc, and that if this was used our consumption would drop, but its not in the manufacturers interest to back this technology. As for totally free energy, with exceptions like solar or hydro which is 'free' once the installation of the collector is done with, I'm not sure there is a really free enegy source as yet.

Lots of people have worked on free energy..but few people in the higher ups like it.
But there's a new technology now..called wireless energy, which will someday replace batteries, and the way electricity currently works with our devices.I think I have an article on it in my discussions someplace..anyway, recently it seems, there's a new advancement techologically every day. But I doubt the governments will ever allow energy to be free.

I believe it is a possibility and also that the energy and oil companies have the money and incentive to pay the inventors of such technologies but would they really have been able to suppress it so well with no leaks and no rumours about these new inventions that could revolutionise the way we all power our homes , businesses, etc? Do I believe it is possible? Definitely yes! Do I believe it is true? I woulld like to be proved wrong as it would improve our world but I am afraid that it is probably just some kind of publicity stunt! xxx
