Are you a picky eater?

Are you one of those eaters that will not try anything new or different? Are you really picky? Or do you try everything at least once to say that you have tried it and to know if you like it or not?
I will usually try everyone at least once. However, I don't eat pork or beef because of personal, health reasons. However, I have tried other foods, like elk, just to try it. I personally do not understand people who are very picky with the foods that they eat. It especially annoys me when the are childish about it, acting all disgusted or dramatic about trying out a new food or when I'm eating a food around them that I don't like, such as fish.
What do you think?

I was a picky eater in my younger days. Growing uo in a house full of kids in a big family, it was 'you get what you get and you don't throw a fit'. Wenever got the chance to be picky. It was eat what is served or starve. As i got into my teens, I knew wht tasted or smelled bad and Iwould not eat it. I would not try new things if you paid me. But then I got pregnant. And things I previously detested, I craved. With each pregnancy my tastebuds have changed. I now like a different variety of foods. I love to try new things, and especially like things I previously hated. Food is made to nourish and strengthen our body but can't we enjoy it while we do it. To some picky eaters it could be a control thing.

Everyone is different. They all have that right. Just like you have the right to not eat pork or beef, because of your personal reasons. Some people would consider that as being picky. I personally do not like seafood at all. Most of your tastebuds come from smell, and I can not stand the smell of seafood.
I do not want to try Elk, Rabbit, Shark, Eel, Snail, or any of that other stuff that other people eat. But I do some suggestions since you love trying new things and consider others childish, because they don't want to. Let's see, there is dog, donkey genitals, stink fish,(fish that has been buried for 3 months)Monkey brains, pig guts and a whole lot of other wonderful yummies. Post a topic again when you have tried all of these.

I was talking about being picky and being rude about eating foods that considered to be socially accepted in american society. Fish is considered acceptable in our society, that is why I get annoyed when people say yuck or make faces when I'm actually eating it. If you don't like it...fine. I just don't like it when people flat out refuse to try anything new that they think they don't like. As for the things you listed at the end of your post...foods like dog, and monkey brains are not usually socially accepted in our society...so I would think it would be justified if one was wary of trying these.

They may not be accepted in our society, but food is food. I personally, will lose my appetite seeing people eating certain things and sometimes I may even lose my belly. For instance, when a person eats fish with the eyes and everything still in tact.
That is normal in our society, but seeing it makes me sick. I have to say, to each his own. I would not sit and eat with someone that is eating something that will offend me. Everyone has a right to eat what they want and everyone has a right to express how they feel about things.
I have had people who try to get me to try something and when I say no, they keep pushing. Then, they have the nerve to ask, why not? When they do, I tell them the truth. My motto is, if you don't want to know don't ask, because I might just tell you.
There are all different cultures mixed together and we all eat different things. the things that I mentioned are normal food in the Philipines. Just because they come out here, does not mean they stop craving the things that they like. As far as a person being rude about it, you decide the company you keep.

I'm not a picky-eater at all! My only criteria is that what I am eating doesn't contain meat (I'm a vegetarian!) I have tried many weird dishes that I never would have thought I'd like, that I turned out loving. Life is too short to turn down every opportunity that presents itself. x

I am not a picky eater and is not afraid to try something new once in a while. I guess it's the result of being a product of a family that likes good food. We love to eat and try new recipes all the time. I also like experimenting in the kitchen so yeah I am adventurous when it comes to food.

when i was younger and even into my late teens, i must admit i was a VERY picky eater. used to drive my mother nuts lol!
now at 32..im willing to try just about any new dish. well, as long as it isnt still moving! and ive discovered that i really like somethings that as a teen i really hated and would refuse to eat.
so i guess as we age and become wiser..so do our tastebuds lol!

I am not a picky eater...that wasn't really allowed in my family, growing up. Although there are only a few things I won't eat...but if I was served them in at someone's house or something I would still manage to eat it just to be polite.
The things I really don't like and don't eat, are lamb, ketchup, and hotdogs and beans. I'm lactose intolerant, so I have to be mindful of dairy products, but I still eat things like cheese, and ice cream cause I love them...I just take lactaid.
I agree with you...I hate it when people are so dramatic about not liking things...especially when you are eating something that they don't like. The gagging and comments...it's just so immature not to mention totally rude.

I must admit I am a picky eater before. I only ate foods that I have tasted and liked. Those new and weird food, I will stay away. But I learned that there are variety of good food out there and I thought I might just try some. It proves that new foods do taste good than the usual food that I take. So, from then onwards, I will almost try to eat whatever that is new in the menu.

I'm not a picky eater. I enjoy all kinds of food. I also enjoy trying new food. I will admit there are a few things I don't care for such as, lamb, eggplant, duck and fig newtons & blueberries, that about it though. I pretty much like everyhing.
