If my dentist had his way, I'd be there every four months. I'm not sure if it is necessary or if it is just good business on his end. As I get older I become more cynical about the motives of all my doctors. How often are you visiting the dentist? Does every four months sound like common practice now? It used to be recommended to go every 6 months!

I have only been to the dentist one time in my whole life for myself. And I only went then so that I could get my wisdom tooth pulled because it hurt so much. I take my children once every 6 months to have their teeth clean. Sometimes the dentist will see a tooth that needs pulled or something so the kids will have to come back a little sooner. That doesn't happen very often. Maybe your dentist is worried about something that he hasn't told you about yet. I think you should just ask him why he feels you should come so often.

i think 6 months are enought. but for that you should take care of your teeth. brushing them several times a day and use dental floss. otherwise your regular dentist visits will be to take care of some desease instead of being just a simple checkup. well i not the right one to talk about, because i'm very negligent with my teeth.

I still stick with every 6 months for cleaning and check up. I work as and office manager in a dentists office a long time ago and I know that bottom line was money and getting the patients back in to the practice as often as possible

When I had insurance, I used to visit the dentist once every 6 months. I have always tried to take good care of my teeth. My insurance would cover me for two visits per year. Since we don't have insurance right now, I went a long time before going to the dentist because it is expensive. I juts went a couple of months ago and got my teeth cleaned and I am happy with the results. I think once every 6 months is good though.

The usual recommended visitation to dentist is twice a year. Unless you have some restorative fillings needed or other concern. Otherwise, every 6 months will do for oral prophylaxis or teeth cleaning and flouridization. 4 months is very unusual. Maybe your dentist is just trying to gain more profit from you. I've seen a lot of dentists nowadays who are doing that. They are even charging their patient a ridiculous high fee.

As long as you are prepared to put in the 'brushwork' between visits I'd have thought 6 months would be perfect timing ..
Going every 4 months does sound a little like your dentist is trying to get extra payments .. so unless your have problematic teeth I'd tell him you'll be visiting him every 6 months in future .. thank you very much!

In this country it used to be 6 months but because waiting lists are so much higher it is now 9 months and I tend to go once every 18 months. I have good teeth and don't want to pay more than I have too, and even when I get treatment for free its not an experience I enjoy and want to do any more often than I feel is necessary.

I had not visited the dentist for the longest time (and I mean years) and have only just started to go this year. I thought it was common practice to go every six months but I suppose it would depend on how good/bad my teeth are I suppose. Dentists are expensive and if I think it's not necessary then I wouldn't go until 6 months was up, or if I felt the need to go, but that's just me.

If my dentist had his way, I would not be visiting him at all. I have not visited any dentist since I left my primary school. At that time, we had dental checkups every week and I was a regular patron. Now, I only visited the dentist if I have extra cash to spare. The dentist recommend that I visit him twice a year. lol.

I visit my denist every 6 to 7 months, that is what my denist recommend for routine checkup and it is also what my insurance will reimburse my dental checkup every 6 months gap, but if I feel that I need a treatment, due to tooth decay, I will go in when needed.

um yeah every 4 months sounds good, but i couldnt afford it, so i usually go once or twice a year and thats it, depending on the money situation and how my teeth are feeling

Luckily I have good insurance, but sometimes I wonder if good insurance puts dollar signs in the eyes of the doctor.

I don't go sometimes to the dentist, generally I go only if I have problems to the teeth.

I go to the dentists nurse twice a year. In this way I do not have do visit the dentist to often. However, this time I went for a week ago to my dentists nurse. I have some issues with my teeth so I have to do a certain treatment that costs a lot and I have to go to specialist. It is not fun but necessary. I also have to go to dentist to fix a broken teeth.
for us here in Sweden the dentist are very expensive so.....how about where you are. The same???

Well to be quite honest, it's been a year ago since my last check up to my dentist. I didn't go the the dentist often, only if I have a problem with my teeth then I will immediately call my dentist to make an appointment then go there. I know that it is better if we do it continuously. I plan to do like that as well. But I don't know when I will start to do it.
