Michelangelo Buonarroti was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect and engineer(he built the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, and he did sculptures like Pietà and David), and he was a poet, too.
In these days I'm studyng his poems. He's remembered for his art and generally his poems are not studied a lot.
The poems of Michelangelo are very difficult to understand and there are some poems not very beautiful, but there are other poems that are very very beautiful. He speak about the love gay and the love for a woman, but in other poems he describes the job of artist. He's "the divine" and I think that who loves figurative art must read some poems of Michelangelo (the more easy, of course).

As I am sort of named after Michelanglo, my name is Michael Angelo, named part after him, and part after my grandfather Angelo, I have come across some of his writing. I had done my research prior to the internet and haven't read alot. I was however aware that as many artists and statesman of his time that usually most arts were explored by the artist. His writings however cannot compare to his painting. That must have truely been an intereting time to live in.

Well, I didn't know he was a poet as well. I know of his arts but not the poems. Thanks and I will take a look at them whenever I get a chance.
