What are some of your favorite hymns and songs of inspiration?
Here are a few of mine:
How Great Thou Art
His Eye is on the Sparrow
What a Friend We Have in Jesus
O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
Amazing Grace
A Mighty Fortress is Our God
O God, Our Help in Ages Past
In the Garden
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
Holy, Holy, Holy
Going Home
The Old Rugged Cross
Let There Be Peace on Earth
Stand By Me
O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go
On Eagle's Wings
I'll stop there for now! lol!

I like all of these that you have mentioned, as well as some newer one's like I Can Only Imagine, by Mercy Me. Wish I could come up with a few more of my favorites. But it has been a long week, and my brain is a bit tired to think of any more at the moment.

"I Can Only Imagine" is a wonderful song! I am so glad that the radio station that I listen a lot to plays that song! They play mostly secular music, but that is one song they do play a lot! I love it!

Yes I have heard that one. Zukepr mentioned that one being one she remembered.
There are so many. I have a hymnbook here from church and I was just looking thru it and found some that I really love.

I like your list and here are a few more that I would add:
There is sunshine in my heart
Precious Lord take my hand
Joyful, joyful we adore Thee
Rock of Ages
Just a closer walk with Thee
Oh Little town of Bethlehem
Silent Night
Ave Maria
Away in the Manger
O come, O come Immanuel
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
O come all ye faithful
God rest ye merry gentlemen
It came upon a midnight clear
Joy to the World
We three kings
As the deer panteth for the water
Our God is an awsome God
Shout to the Lord
Well I shall stop there so that other may also add theirs.

It's amazing how many I've seen posted that I haven't sang or heard for so long! I'm going to have to make a list of some of those for my church to sing!

LOL - ok now you've got me singing. Home alone tonight so guess it doesn't matter but I'm just going down your list seeing how many of them I know the words to. Only one I can't place is 'Our Help in Ages Past'. Going to have to check into that one... Unless you wanna sing it for me :)

O God our Help in ages past,
Our Hope for years to come.
(I forget a lot of the words right now. I don't have my hymnal with me!)
And our Eternal Home!

How about the hymn "In the Sweet By and By"? I really like that hymn because it helps me to get my focus off what is happening here and now, and onto what the future (eternity in heaven) will hold. I can't imagine that Christianity would be quite the same without hymns like that.

I love hymns!
To God be the Glory
Blessed Assurance
And can it be
Guide me o thy great Jehovah
At the name of Jesus
There is power in the blood
showers of blessings
mine eyes have seen the glory
take time to be holy
bringing in the sheaves
there is a place of quiet rest
more love to thee

My Hope is in the Lord; My Faith Has Found a Resting Place; The Solid Rock; I love the old Fanny Crosby Hymns
A very moving hymn to meditate on before communion is "O Sacred Head Now Wounded"
Another moving slower hymn is "Breathe on Me, Breath of God"
I Too can go on & on- I can recommend two Hymn books : Great Hymns of the Faith & The Majesty Hymn Book

I don't know all of the ones you mentioned, but the ones I do are great hymns! I like "My Jesus, I Love Thee", "Fairest Lord Jesus", "O Worship The King", "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee", "Praise To The Lord, The Almighty", "All Creatures of Our God and King", "On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand". I didn't realize it at first, but I guess my list could go on and on too!
