I think some of them are not intentional. I'm not sure if there's a way to check for existing discussions before posting your own. Once I started a discussion and the moment I posted it, I saw a typical discussion heading exactly like what I have used word for word. Of course the body was different. I had to write a comment on the original thread starter apologizing for the mistake. Cheers!

Well..if you look at the search box..it has various titles above it: web, mylot, discussion, blog, news, photo and messages.
You type the sentence you are using for your topic and then push discussion right above the box ..then push search..
This sometimes works and other times it does not..but if you try first ..at least you made the effort;)+

Yes, i have been there. The reason they do it is that they need not to think what topic to start. Its less effort and more money. sad thing though... but its true.

Isnt that awful? I mean..I must have seen one of the newest topics 300 times asked..but people continue to create this same topic..After a while you get tired of answering the same question;)+

Some people here are just after the money. Some are after for the information while others go for both. Me.. answering you in the same discussion will not get me paid. Of course, I'm not obviously after the money.
I understand how you feel. Its irritating. but leveling down to people like that ain't worth your time. right? But making a new discussion is a good idea though.
Don;t forget to rate me! ciao

Chemica..if you answer one more person in my discussion you will make one more point..It is allowed for you to respond to me and make a point and one other person..and get one point..
So..if you see another comment that jumps out in your in the discussion feel free to jump in..that is what makes it a discussion;)+ Try it and watch, see if you don't get a point:)+

How do you know someone steals your idea? I often start discussions about news items I've read online, and later find similar discussions. Many people read online news.

Now...I never used the word "steal" and it does happen..
but it can be avoided by people taking time to use the search..there are different ways to search..
If you see the box that is called "search" ..above it you see different headings: web: mylot: discussions: blogs: news: photos: messages:
Type your topic or title..select Discussions and search.
I know most people on mylot are very honest..but to see your topic appear 5 minutes later from posting ..?

Hello, littlefranciscan,I think it is hard for every members to have totally new topics everyday, there may always be overlap in topics,i feel it is fine to have similar topics, but if you say someome change your topics and start a bit new one, then it may be a problem,it depends on how they change it,if they just change the sequence of sentences,it is like copy and paste.
But few weeks ago,i had nearly started a topic which was the same with my friend at the same time,i checked my email and i was shocked of this coincidence.
If the same members change few topics from your few times,he/she must have done it intentionally, may be they are lazy to think of some new ideas.

Hi Easy888 do you use the search box before posting? Just curious..I know I do..sometimes ..even when using it..The topics dont appear till after I post..so I know things happen..
But like you said..the same person always posting similar topic..then something's fishy.
Also word for word copying..makes it even more suspect;)_+
