Today international officials arrested four men accused of plotting to blow up a fuel supply line to JFK airport and catch a major portion of New York City on fire. Just a few weeks ago, we caught terrorists plotting to attack Fort Dix. How do you react to these things?
I don't want the threat of terrorism to rule my life, but it does give me pause when I realize my husband will be flying for 24 hours or so on Thursday, coming home.
Do the terrorist plots affect your daily life? Do you feel tat capturing them before they attack justifies the personal liberties secrificed in the name of security?

I think that Bush has saved many people because of his homelend security programs. It is just another example of the extra security really working. I think people should really feel bad about running president Bush down so much when its his plans that are saving these people.

AMEN!!! I agree with you completely.
Bush has made some mistakes, and I'm not saying that I totally support the war, but it is his Homeland Securtity policies which have made the U.S. a much safer place. I feel much safer when these people are caught before the act; Bush's program has saved many lives, no doubt.
Wouldn't it have been great if the Government had been so good at uncovering terrorist plots BEFORE 9/11 happened?

You know, I feel very similarly. I think the President gets a bad rap nationally and internationally from people who don't understand the real threat to our way of life. I get really frustrated when people who have never experienced the horror of a terrorist attack call him the Devil. I don't agree with everything he's done; I didn't vote for him twice; and I think sometimes, his bumbling of words makes him look less intelligent than he is. But regardless of all that, the man is Commander-in-Chief and Americans do themselves a horrible disservice in mocking him and letting other people mock him.

I am glad that someone else can also see that there is more to realise here. He has a fulltime job just making sure these areas are covered and stay covered.
I think when you vote a president in that you should support him and know the facts. I am really tired of all that bashing. He is a strong president and I am not sure that we would be so protected under anyone else. Many people maybe eating words later on.

I say, "chalk another one up for the good guys!"
As the others said, you can say what you want about Prs. Bush's policies, but so far he has done more to thwart terrorism than any other world leader... ever.
It was his policies, but let's not forget the hard work from agents and alertness from citizens that made the great policies matter.
The way we combat fear is by just being more alert, instead of reacting with fear. We should never made decisions in our lives based on the fear of terrorism. We are still in more danger driving to anywhere than we are too being the victims of terrorists while we are there.

I don't let it affect my daily life, but it does worry me on days like Thursday when I know my husband will literally be flying halfway around the world. Sure, he's more likely to have a car accient on the way home from the airport, but I'm a child of the Cold War. I grew up with mutually assured destruction and felt relief when the Berlin wall fell. now it feels like half my countrymen don't remember what a real threat nuclear weapons or biological ones could be.
