Do you think you can live to God's expectations even without studying the word?

What do you think about reading the Bible? - Some don't care to study the Bible. Do you think they can please God even without studying it?

Hi friends! I have observed that many people go to church, but they find it so difficult to read the bible. I think we should consider the fact that we can know God's will if only we read the Bible. The Bible lets us know what God likes and what He doesn't like, cos there're times when we will commit sins and think its not a sin. What do you think about this? Do you think you one can be able to please God even without studying the Bilble? Thanks for your response in advance.

I think it is essential to study GOD'S word, to meditate on what it says, what it means, and how to apply it to my own life. I attended [for awhile] a church where the pastor said it was more important to attend services than to study the word and I so disagree. It is great to be able to do both but if I can only do one it would be to study my bible.

If we listen to the word of God without meditating on it, We might forget, but if we keep studying, it makes us understands God's word. Thanks for your response.

I dont think that we, the humans really understand what this God or whatever is his name expects from us. The 10 commands are subjective and they can be disscused. They are IDEAL rules. We are real creature and live in real world. So we adapt them to our personal needs.

Oh yes. I think you can live up to G-d's expectations without studying the word.As long as you love your neighbor and are a good person you are living up to G-d's expectations.

If we don't know GOD's words - Bible, how can we live to HIS expectations? "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: "That the man of God maybe profect, throughly finished into all good works."(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

It is necessary to have comprehensive knowledge of books of your faith. To educate yourself in science or maths or other subjects though important for day to day requirements but to have knowledge of your faith is good for your soul. God has clearly given HIS constitution, to be followed strictly otherwise HE has promised us with hell fire. Though people do not like to have faith in GOD, but they do not have any alternative. The universe, around us makes us believe that there is a creater, who has and is sustaining life. Hence we cannot please HIM until we follow HIM by following true path and true constitution.

I don't think that you can know what God wants if you don't study the word. I know that there is a wonderful bible verse that says Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" Romans 10:17. So my question would be can we have faith if we don't hear or read the word of God. I believe that you really need a daily if possible bible study time. I find that my day goes better when I have it in the morning. SOme people have it at night. But whenever you do it you really need to do it.

Bible is the source only to know about the person whom you believe. There is no harm in knowing . But it is not true that we can only please the god when we study the bible. If you have a faith on god , you can talk to him from your heart . God will always help you where you need him. He is not the selfish like human being.

You know, I have read the entire bible 2 whole times. I come from a religious upbringing and I'm thankful for it. I try to do what's right but let me tell you something...It's so hard to do what is right! But I do agree that we won't be able to please God completely unless we read the bible. It's so insightful and practical for daily use, although some people don't think so.

I believe Bible is the word of God. I also believe that without studying Bible we will not get the right idea about sins. One should read and understand the Bible to lead a life as desired by God. Thank you thefuture.

There are three basic elements to finding God's will for us, studying and meditating on the Word, fellowship with like minded believers (church), and prayer. Personally I find that I need all three consistently.

Why not simply live a good life and ignore a book written centuries ago that features the prejudices and inequalities of its time (this should provide a hint that it is not divinely inspired). If your god rejects you simply because you haven't read whatever twisted version (and good historian can tell you why the Bible cannot be considered accurate due to the hand written translations over the years) happens to be in vogue at the time, then he really isn't much of a god. I am an agnostic but if the god you suggest exists, he would easily be aware of your intentions as opposed to what you have read.

Yes. Children, mentally disabled people, illiterate people, the poor, the first few centuries of Christians. All of these people were and are taught about God's expectations through word of mouth, not by studying the Bible. But I think many of them do live to God's expectations. The Bible wasn't even widely available until the printing press was invented in the 15th century. People relied on the Church to hear the word of God. They couldn't just pick up the Bible and read it whenever they wanted to. I think there are far too many people who DO read and study the Bible but do not please God.

I should add that people who profess Christianity and have the capability to study and understand the Bible should absolutely do so.
