Do you plan and take vacations? I have been trying to get my husband to take time off but he always says he is too busy. He has not taken a "vacation" for seven years. Says there is too much work and that he will still get called all the time. I say it is a matter of health. He need to relax! But he wont.

Not good to never take a vacation. Before you know it you will look back on your life and realize that all you did was work, you never enjoyed the time off. We try to plan our vacations, hopefully earlier than later, we are hoping this year to spend a couple of weeks at the beach, unsure if we are heading to Galveston to rent a beach house or heading to S. Padre and rent a beach house there, either way I know it will be a good time and probably will happen around the time we get our girls for the month of July, in fact, I was hoping to spend the entire month of July on vacation at the beach, wouldn't that be nice ...

Oh yeah-beach! It is a little sad though cause when I grew up we used to go to Destin Florida near Ft Walton. It was so nice to walk the beach early in the morning. Now try to find a spot on the beach! But I agree it is not good to never take time off. I worry about my husband's health because he is so stressed.

You should go to any state tourism department and have some flyers sent to your home (they are FREE), then when you make your husband lunch for the day, put a flyer in his lunch bag for him to view, do that several times a month and I bet he will come home one day and say "let's go on vacation", always works with mine!!

Sounds like you are on the right tract. Our kids are grown so we dont have to worry about that. I would just like to see my husband relax just for a few days at home. He never feels good. I keep asking him to take some time. Just to put his feet up and do nothing. Doing nothing is just what he usually does not the week end.

I teach high school and I do get a couple of months off during the summer. However sometimes I have to go to summer school and do not get a real vacation. This summer I am taking a vacation with my family to go visit my son on Montana. I live in Michigan. The distance is 1622 miles according to MapQuest. I just heard this morning on Good Morning America that a lot of companies are going to start making their employees take vacations to help reduce their stress and possible heart attacks and sickness caused from stress. The reporter said that companies are hiring individuals to check vacation records of all employees to make sure that they take a vacation each year. It must be at least one week because it takes at least a weeks vacation to relieve job stress. I thought that was interesting.

That is what made me think of my husband. He works for a small construction company where he supervises plumbing of motels, metal buildings, and strip centers. The boss just keeps taking on the work but the workers never seem to catch up. Funny how the boss always manages to go somewhere several times a year. Guess he knows the work will continue.

Vacation are sometimes relaxing specailly for a very busy working men/women. I love to plan vacations to save money and time too. There are vacations which are very stressful, specially those unplanned ones.

Yeah I have had both of those. I always wondered why people say the family vacation is fun. Fun for three kids when you think they will like something and they dont. Now I would just like for my husband to take some time off to just relax.

It is recommended for husbands and wives to take vacations alone together. Without kids. Then a vacation alone with friends, without a husband or wife or kids once a year can also be good. It all depends the personality and time management yougive for you and your family. God bless!
