Do you buy those items already available with you by anticipating the Need?

I have to see the day to day needs of those items direly needed like "Milk for Babay", "Plain Water", "Pampers" ;) and likewise. These are the items consumed very quickly and if not anticipate I would have to rush for these whilst I have very little time to rest. Nowadays due to tight schedule I have very little time spare so I use to manage all the affairs specially pertaining to my little son before time.
How about you? Do you people anticipate while shopping or feel good after consuming the item fully? What makes so to do so? Some money problem, scarcity of time or ?

We buy everything in bulk and always try to have a good supply on hand. I hate the emergency trips to the store. Right now we are trying to potty train my daughter se we dont have a big supply of diapers like we normaly do. We dont want to end up with a huge box of leftovers and no where to put them. I wish I could figure out how to go shopping only once ever few months.

yup. it's always better to have some supplies at hand at home. always being ready for everything that might happen. plus, to cut the instances of doing emergency grocerying which i hate, too. good for you to potty train your child. it will not just help is cost cutting your budget, it will also lessen stress for you in thinking about his diaper needs.
have a wonderful day... anne

I am a person who stocks the shelves of my home...I have 2 refrigerators and a chest style freezer in my kitchen....LOL
I buy ahead of time and always plan ahead for the what if's in life....I buy foods on special that my family likes and store it for future consumption....
There are times when everybody has financial difficulties..unless a person is extremely wealthy...and that leaves me out...so I have to rely on my ability to be prepared ahead of time...
I think that this is the best way to handle everything in life....if you are able to do so....

We do that on a regular basis...buy items in anticipation of need. Especially if its a high use item we use regularly. For us, the reason we do that is for convenience. Especially when it comes to baby, running out of something at 2am is just bad news. Baby stays unhappy, when baby is unhappy-Moma is unhappy and Dad has to work twice as hard. LOL
Even in cooking, when a common item is used up and you need more, you run the risk of ruining the meal. Especially if you could have taken inventory of the stocks..

We anticipate what we might need as best as we can. We like to buy as much stuff as we can all at once so that we don't have to make another trip to town just to go to the store. At the beginning of each week we buy at least four if not five gallons of milk. We buy two loaves of bread and two dozen eggs. While we are at the store picking up these items we will also grab other things like toliet paper and such so that we aren't wasting time and monsy.

Yes, I anticipate what my families needs are while shopping. I never go shopping unless it is something that my family needs.

I usually keep good track when we are running low on something. So I know when its time to buy something so we don't end up running out. I don't have babies but I have animals and it seems like they are always needing something.

I live in the bush in a small village where the shop only sells a few items and they are too expensive. I live on a budget and need to shop carefully so I always have what I may need. I keep amounts of things I need most often in quantity, freezing my bread and using milk powder and UHT milk. As soon as I open the last packet or can of something I write it on my list. I always have a list when I go shopping and I try to allow a few extra dollars if something is on special.
It's 60klm to the next small town and 100klms to the next big town. My pet food I can only get from the next biggest town where my Dad lives. It's a much bigger place so I arrange to see my doctor here and I visit Dad and do other things as well, usually staying overnight.
I find with the price of fuel and car maitenance these days we have to be prepared for any contingency.

I always try to plan ahead so that I am not wasting time or gas having to make several trips to places. At the beginning of each week I go through our refrigerator and pantry to see what we will need for the following week or so. I like to buy a few extra of each item to make sure that I have enough stuff on hand till I can make it back to where every I get the stuff from. I don't like to run out of anything.

nope. i hate the idea of rushing to the store just because you ran out of something which is necessary of use at home. my mom and i stock stuffs so that we can avoid the rush when one item is almost fully used. most of the items which are always having reserves are shampoos, conditioners, toothpastes, soaps, sugar, rice, mouthwash, medicines and many others.
it's always better to prepare. it won't make us pay any extra cost to be prepared.
take care... anne

Well, if the items that I will be buying is for my baby.....it is better to have a stock of her things in the house, for she uses and needs them everyday and my-my going to the supermarkets is very tiring with the voluminous of people that goes and buys also their stuffs........it is better that I have everything inside our house even if it our room may look like a mini-grocery of baby items.

I try to plan, so that I save time and gasoline when I shop, as well as the distress of being out of something vital. I do not like the casual, "I will get it sometime" kind of lifestyle. It makes me feel out of control.

Wow it seemed that your're very stressed. I hope my response will help you manage your money, time together with your baby's needs. I started by putting a date on the Formula Milk, Distilled Water and Diaper can the day I opened the package, and when the whole pack is consumed I put the details in a small notebook. For example, I opened a 1.6kg of Milk formula on May 1 and can is empty by May 8, so it means that I have to buy 4 cans of 1.6kg Milk Formula for it to last a whole month. In this way whenever my husband and I go to the supermarket after he receives his salary we already know how many cans of milk formula and our own needs to buy.

I try to never grocery shop without a shopping list, because then I buy things that I already have or buy things that are not needed at all.
I keep a master list of groceries on the computer and before I go to the store I figure out what we need for at least the next week and eliminate the items on the master list that we don't need. Then I print the current list and don't save the changes to the master list.
I do it this way because it has been too easy to miss putting some items on the list. If it is on the master list I can then check the cupboard and refrig/freezer to see what we have/need.
I also mark on the list items that I have coupons for so I know to look for a specific brand and compare prices to see if it is cheaper with the coupon than what I would ordinarily buy.
