All leg splitters here are welcome to this discussion and even those who aren't, LOL:-)
Seriously guys, i'm really just too curious to know how people can do the leg split very much easier and how amazed I am to see their body movements, it's very flexible.
Is there anyone of you here can do the splitting? How you maintain your body exercise and it's flexibility? Or it's just all natural after all to a certain person that truly has a gift of such? :-)

argg i think that i'd die if i had to do that. However, don't think i am not flexible. If i sit on the floor and lean forward trying to touch my feet with my hands...well there was a flexibility test at high school that basically consisted on that, and i had the school's record! but opening my legs is impossible for me.

How I wish I could, lol! Unfortunately I can't do that split with my legs. It's difficult in my part to do so. Maybe I'll be needing alot of stretching if I wanted to learn splitting. I admire those people who easily do that with their legs. I'm sure most of the dancers can perform that well.

Yes, most of the dancers on television i've seen a lot of them that are very good on that. True, it's easy to look at it with other people performing but when it comes doing it within ourselves then that's when we truly find it a very hard thing. Thanks for sharing.

My 5-year old daughter can do a leg spit and much more. he he he! But she is a gymnast so I guess there is nothing unusual about it but a lot of people do enjoy seeing her do the split, the back flips, the back bends and all those leg raising routines. Such kind of flexibility has to be developed while still young.

A big hand applause to you derek, LOL :-) Wow, I can't imagine or just believe how a man can do splits. You make me amazed of your split experiences during those times. Just keep on trying maybe then your flexibility will come back to your body LOL :-)
Thanks for sharing.

Many years ago I use to be able to it took lots of practice and hard work but once I got it I could do it often but not any more. I can if I really try but it hurts lots more these days. It is amazing to watch. I have a fourty year old friend who is a little over weight who can still do them. Double jointed hip or something. She has always been very flexible and three kids later nothing changed.

I'm like that...my chiropractor *sp* says that my body naturally hyperextends (basically I'm naturally over flexible which some ppl call 'double-jointed')

I used to be able to do the splits...to the left,to the right, standing up, laying on my back LOL and I probably still could but I'm afraid to try cause i screwed up my knee pretty badly a couple yrs ago and now I baby it out of fear that I'd snap it again...

Good for you! You have the experience to do the splitting and like many others they also have the experience doing it too, but now that they're in their age then came to the point that they can't no longer do like what they used to, same thing like yours but in different situation because like you said you have hurt your knee pretty badly, then maybe then that's what your problem is reason why you can't no longer do it.
Thanks for sharing.

Don't even dare trying if you really can't...stay out of any risks specially muscle injuries. It's good for your sister and cousin to do so because like you said, they're in the gymnast class and they're more professional in doing it so. Thanks for sharing :-)

Well, I can do leg splitting and I can tell you that it was really hard to make my body so flexible. You should be very careful with the exercises and to do some exercises before starting the spliting. Once I had bad injury of the muscle because I did the splitting without anything before. So you if you really want to be able to do it be stubborn and you'll be able to teach yourself.
However, I needed 6 days to be able to do that. But I was 16. Now I am 18 and I still can do it no matter that I don't do exercises very often. Sure if you are older you would need longer time but with enough work everything is possible.
I wish you good luck and don't give up.

That is right, it's all about good exercise and more practice to achieve this thing of splitting most specially self-discipline in order to fulfill this sort of thing when one truly have the desire to this kind of profession. Thanks also for those tips given. :-)

My legs are already splited into two.........Its by birth and I think others are, So I think there is not need to try leg split. JUST KIDDING
If u are talking 180 degree leg split, I think thats impossible for me.
I really get surprised to see this. I needs a lot of prectice, but I am sure any normal should be able to do it with some efforts.
Bye

Leg splitting needs a lot of exercise. One should have a very flexible body. When i was in college i used to do to some extent, as i used to attend yoga classes. But now i have two kids & it is impossible for me to do it now.If i practise it again may be i could do it.

Its all a matter of practice and perseverence. as you GRADUALLY become more flexible with stretches you will find yourself being able to stretch more and more.

I can't.It seems to be a little pity.If I exerised since I was a child,it would be a piece of case to me.Not all of people who can do the leg split are GOD gift.In fact, they were praticing from child.Having experienced a bitter procession, they can do it so easily.Their ligament has been praticed so flexible. We didn't do any such exerise in our childhood,so we certainly can't make it.

Oh yeah i can do leg split but when I was younger.LOL! I used to join karate classes and leg split is one of the stretching i've done. I was also a cheerleader when i was in highschool(sigh..those were the days). But after sometime due to lack of exercise, i am not able to do it anymore.
